Hello everyone, I am going to start a website and Like what I mention in the title I would like to know if - is it wise to get your domain and host from the same place? I understand most host would provide a free domain name, however I would like to know if I would have control of the domain or I am stuck with the host as the would have control of the domain? Thanks.

Hey, Well actually if you want full control over the domain, I have just heard that with many web hosts you can just ask them to give you full control over the domain, and they will do that for you for free of charge, that is great! Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Thanks for the advice EliteUser, I would message the host to queries about this right away. to see if I would have full control of the domain name. By the way do you have any experience with blue host?

Hey, No I don't have any experience with Bluehost, but I have heard a LOT of great reviews about it. I am not lying, I have heard it is quite good! Just chat with them online, or message them with your question. Hope this helps!

Actually it is not much different whether your domain and host from the same place or not. I just can say that it is more easy to control if you own them at the same place

Well think the problem is that my site grows big and that host can no long support my website. That would be the issue. I might be dreaming, however I desire that my site would be big, as big or if not bigger that mylot.

Now i get your point. You can either get a better hosting package on this site or ship to other better hosting service provider. Both are fine and able to solve your problem

I think it depends on the price. If the price is nice and it is stable, why not get the domain and the host from the same place? It is convenient. I love China

I think getting your domain from the people who host is a good idea for a couple reasons. First, they often offer a discount if are getting other services, but mainly if there is a problem you are not caught in the middle.

Yes that is the problem, I am like to have control of the domain name in case I need to shift or change host in the future.

Hi, I have done it both ways. I have used http://www.no-ip.com to register the domain name and used a few of their services and hosted at 3 other hosts. I never had a problem, but I got tired of logging into no-ip to reset the DNS servers to point at changes at the host or if I moved. I combined everything at godaddy.com and I am happy that I did! They have great products and support, and the sites have been up 100% of the time. I do not work nor profit from godaddy, but right now I think they are the best.

The problem with godaddy host is not suitable for what I have in mind that is why I am going for blue host. so far I have seen very good reviews on their host. I just wondering if I get their free domain, would it be hard for me to handle my domain in the future.

It really depends on or your current domain provider. If they charge you a lot with hosting I think you better off finding other hosting site that offers lowest price. But it is nicer for manageability reason just use one place.

The point is I am not rich, kryptoscode. I have to find the most reasonable price host for my needs. I have looked around and this seem to be the most reasonable at the moment. However I do dream of becoming big one day and if one day when my site is as big as mylot, that host might not be able to host it at the same speed so I might have look else where.
