How to induce vomiting without the finger down-your-throat method

With houshold items please (I don't have that special medication). Last night at 12 am I started violently coughing like I was choking something up. I couldn't bear to stick my finger down my throat, so I just drank a lot of iced tea and after fifteen minutes, I'd stopped. So that made me wonder if I really did need to vomit; what should I have done?

hi rose2798 if you ever have that situation again where
you think you must vomit first buy syrup of ipecac and have
it on hand for emergencies,it induces vomiting and that is'
all it is used for recommended by the poison control center.

We were taught before that milk and egg mixture could induce vomiting.

drink a little salt solution. automatically it will induce vomitting
