Julie has always been kind of a side character so she can probably handle both shows. I think they want us to thing it was the new kid that did it, but you could be right it could be the father of the baby, or it could have even been Katherine who seems to be completly losing her mind although I don't think she was ever really that stable.

Apparantly the guy stangled Julie is man not woman.
I don't think Katherine has hired some one to do it, and she has her own plan such as send out wrong message that Mike is just giving pity to Susan and the truth love of Mike is Katherine. If she strangled Julie, would she take this action afterward? NO.
But the father of new kid is very possible, from the very begining he seems not agree his son's dating with Julie. He might think he could protect his son by doing something to Julie.

I don't know if it's the new kid... that'd be way to simple and it's only the second episode in. I have had thoughts that maybe it's the new kids dad bcause the dad was supposedly driving around looking for his son so he could have done it. Julie did think she was pregnant. Maybe she got involved with the dad and that's why the new kid and her fought and the dad didn't want anyone to know about the two of them and he thought she was pregnant also so he tried to strangle her.
Or maybe it's someone we haven't even met yet. I can't wait to find it. It's been an interesting season so far.

That's exactly what I was thinking!! They wouldn't make it so obvious, and I had a wierd feeling about the dad from the first time they showed him. Plus, the scars on the mom's back....really don't think it would be the son....we'll see!

The new kid has a really weird family.
there must be a lot of stories behind this family.
Can't wait to watch the following new episodes..
It seems this new Season will focus on the new family...

For some reason the dad popped in my head as the father of Julie baby, but they say she is not pregnant or am I missing something. I also thought it could have been catherine. She is trying to get revenge on mike and susan. So maybe Julie just is dating the dad. She was known to hook up with strange men. Happy lotting.
