Are we the victims of 'thought reform' ?

This info comes from: http://www.factnet.org/Thought_Reform_Exists.htm?FACTNet Margaret Thaler Singer, Ph.D. Thought reform can be also called 'brainwashing'. It is different from educating people on any given subject. It is different than advertising a product or person. It is different than propaganda (political persuation), it is different than indoctrination...from the article: Thought reform is not mysterious. It is the systematic application of psychological and social influence techniques in an organized programmatic way within a constructed and managed environments (5,7,8,9,10). The goal is to produce specific attitudinal and behavioral changes. The changes occur incrementally without its being patently visible to those undergoing the process that their attitudes and behavior are being changed a step at a time according to the plan of those directing the program. Our society once was different. People who worked hard were rewarded with success. People who didn't were not rewarded. People once valued ethical behavior, now unethical behavior puts you 'at the top' and people admire you. Families were the backbone of society and people kept their word more frequently. Now, divorce is expected and so is lying or going back on your word. Those who had morals and values similar to the Judeo Christian worldview were looked up to. Now those who have these values are made to appear foolish. What happened? Have we been the victims of a subtle shift as the result of thought reform? Take a look at the chart that maps the differences between Education, advertising, propaganda, indoctrination and THOUGHT REFORM that is on the site and tell me what you think.

That was a great read, thanks for that. My only criticism is this, that as a spiritual being, a (literal) student of psychology, and a (practical) student of history and human manipulation, one thing that has become blatantly obvious to me, is that the one source (the DSM-IV) referred to most by the writer/site creator is an arm of one of the most deceptive and manipulative instruments of the elitists ever, psychology, and its educational programs that aim subtly for creating out of its practicioners, socialists, atheists, anti-patriots, and advocates for unhealthy, selfish, and immoral behaviour. And at one time I was their victim. lol I shook it off, got right with God and myself and others....and was surprised to find out that I felt much better about life. I don't accept everything I read, contrary to the opinion of some here on myLot. But I also don't just automatically throw it ALL out either. Sorta reading between the lines? lol
