How long do you leave a discussion before choosing a Best Answer?

I find that, sometimes, a discussion will hang fire with few responses for several days, then, all of a sudden more people will reply so choosing a 'Best Answer' is best left for a week, sometimes.

It does depend very much on the question, doesn't it. I don't know whether it has an effect on a person's earnings, but giving a plus to a question or answer certainly does, so please rate good questions and answers whenever you feel they deserve it! (you get a plus for this response!)

It's a bit aggrevating to enter a discussion that is 10 minutes old and the best response has already been assigned. I usually just leave the discussion without responding. If someone is going to assing the best response so fast I am just assuming they are giving the best response to their friends, so they really aren't interested in what other have to say, so I don't bother. I personally try to leave a day or even two if I am still getting more responses. If I see the responses have stopped after an hour or two I will still leave it until the next day to choose, becuase of different time zones.

Well I try to waite for it to die down a bit, unless someone posts something I just think is outstanding, then I will give it to them then. If I have a low response like 2 or 3 and none are very good, I will just let them set. I figured these posts aren't going anywhere, so it won't hurt to give those a bit more time in hops something better is posted. See like this posts, it's been here for 2 months and here I come along posting on it. Well, I got lost after that last left turn. You know how us women are with getting to places, LOL

I would always wait for at least a day before choosing a best response, sometimes discussions only start to become active a few days if they get one or two responses first day.. I would say if a discussion has less than 10 responses I won't be in a hurry to choose a best response.. you can leave it for a week or more ..

I will wait until I get an answer I want or like. If a discussion has gone a week with out any replies then I will pick the best one. I like to wait so I know I have picked the best one. I will also tell someone that they also deserve the best response if they post later and give a better answer. It does not help ratings or earnings but I think they would like to hear that I like their answer very much.

That is very thoughtful of you, Tammyr. It does sometimes happen that a discussion which has been lying dormant for several weeks or months will come back to the fore and somebody will post an excellent response which deserves recognition, even though Best Response has been given already.

When there is nobody posting on my posts anymore I choose the best response. But sometimes I don't know which is which, but I think to give it to the first responder because sometimes people who respond last are just copying from the previous response.

It has been awhile since this discussion was started but I would like to respond anyway. I like to wait about 3 weeks because sometimes you get some very good responses even a little later and if you have already chosen a best response it is like you have resolved the discussion. So I like to wait a little while.

It all depends on how quickly I get the responses in, but I do wait for a week at least or so many responses, depending on the nature of the discussion. Sometimes though the responses come in so fast that it is a little overwhelming and I prefer to let it go for a few days. I read the responses as they come in, give ratings as applicable and after that bit of a break I will go back and re-read all the responses that I gave a positive to. If they are good enough for a positive then they should be considered for the best response. Not everyone can be online at the same time, so I think it is better to wait and allow those who can only be at myLot every few days a chance to contribute. I have responded to many discussions where the person who started the discussion has never given anyone best response, for any of their discussions which is most annoying.

Most of the time lately, I have been giving it a few days. Sometimes I get so many great answers, I cannot always pick the best one.

It depends on how busy it is. If it's been a day or two since the last response, I try to pick. But if it's still going strong even after a couple of days, I'll leave it. I don't want to mark a "best answer" and then see another one and be like "No, that's really the best!"
