Anyone seen that yellow jackets are bad this year?

This year we are being taken over by yellow jackets. I have never seen them this bad. The past 2 weeks we have had thousands of them in the yard and around the porch. They get angry very fast so I cant even let the kids go out and play on the weekends. The school is telling kids if they see them on the play ground to tell the teacher on duty, then kids are all sent inside for recess. I hate to say it but someone said this means a very bad winter this year. With the cold coming early this year and snow in places it may be true.
Have you got a yellow jacket problem to??

are you sure they are just yellow jacket and not the afraica bees that can be dangerous ? because those bees will get very angery for no reason at all. dont sure where you are from but they do have them here in the states.

Yes, they are yellow jackets. They just had a clip on the news about them and they are warning people to not even leave there trash out where they may go near the bags. Some people are getting stung putting trash out by the road.

i honestly haven't seen many this year-maybe 5 total this summer.
and not many regular bees either-just the big fat bumblebees.
it's kind of strange because i used to see more.

We normally have tons of bumble bees around but this past 2 weeks they wont come to the plants like they normally do because of the yellow jackets they are really bad this year. Normally we see a few but not that many.
