All you can eat for one price ... do you like these? Have them where you live?

Hi all. In the USA, many restaurants often have "buffets" of a variety of food, or they have certain days where a meal is on sale ... all you can for just one price. Does your country have such places? Do you enjoy and take advantage of getting your fill of food for a single price? I do take advantage sometimes of the breakfast buffet restaurants when they have an all-you-can eat special, and one restaurant always has available all-you-can-eat spaghetti, which I love. The main problem for me is that I can only eat just so much, and then I am full! The trick is, they will not allow you to take home your own leftovers on your plate...no "doggie bags." But why not? Shouldn't all you can eat mean just that? Shouldn't we at least be able to have them box up whatever good leftovers are on our plates so that we can take them home for later? Karen

My familiy loves buffets. The kids get to pick and choose exactly what they want, and they end up eating more. We eat in restaurants a lot, and usually we will go to a buffet instead of an order-off-of-the-menu restaurant. The only problem I have with them is that I will overeat and feel miserable afterwards. LOL

Hi Rm...my granddaughter has always been a picky little eater, but she, like your children, tends to eat more at the buffets. She just loves going back numerous times to put a little of her favorites on a plate. They do have a whole lot of variety! And, also like you, I find it easy to over indulge and end up with a stomach ache lol. Have a great Wednesday night. Karen

This is a great discussion, and I know we have a bunch of all you can eat buffet places here in the USA,and two of my favorite places are Golden Coral because they have about anything you could want on the buffet, and Ci Ci's pizza which has the all you can eat pizza buffet which is really yummy, and I think that these types of places can help you get more food for less money, and help you save money when going out to eat, especially if you have a big family,or are having a big get together, such as for a birthday or other holiday, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

Thank you, Cowboy. The pizza places here are a favorite place for people to gather for parties, especially, as you said, birthday parties. Like you, I love the variety and the lower prices, especially in these economic times. It's always nice to have so much variety, too. Thank you for your input, and have a nice night! Karen

ooh, I love those, even though gluttony is one of the seven sins. Seriously though, who doesn't like to eat at places like these? That is what you should have asked...lol. I love the buffets especially the ones that have a theme. And for for the most part, i always go after the salads and the meats, those are the best.

The seafood buffets are really popular, especially where i'm from, and the pizza hut lunch buffet is da bomb, but i sometimes feel, as if they are being with the toppings. But i do miss those sweet pizzas, they don;t do those anymore.

Hello Pcruz. I love them, too, and can live with occasional gluttony lol. A lot of people love the seafood theme bars in a particular restaurant and the lunch bar, too, at Pizza Hut! And salad bars are great, since I do love salads and fruits. Karen

They still have the dessert pizzas and cinnamon/sugar bread sticks at ours. I'm sorry they don't in your area. Yummy! Thank you for responding. Karen

Hi Karen! In our city also there are some restaurants which offer buffet lunch or say Brunch, specially on Sundays. However, I find that cost of buffet over there is too expensive. We can arrange to have better brunch at our home at less cost, therefore, we do not prefer going to such restaurants. Afterall, money and saving is important for us.

hi karen, there are many restaurants now catering buffet style of serving wherein you choose whatever you like to eat and as much as you like for just Php99.00, that would be about $2 in US money. In some barbeque restaurants, they offer a Php58 serving of pork or chicken barbeque and an unlimited serving of rice. no leftovers allowed or you pay double. no doggie bags either. that's why when i go to places like this, i make sure that i am really hungry so that i eat what my money is worth .. and sometimes more. cheers, ann

Hi Ann. Yum! The food you've mentioned sounds delicious! Buffets here are often "theme" oriented: a breakfast buffet with many many options, say, or a seafood and salad dinner buffet, also with a wide selections of foods. I love the variety and the low price, but do think it would be nice to take away your own leftovers! Have a happy day! Karen

i guess that is the technique of the restaurants so they could save and avoid wastage here. they will double the price you pay if you leave leftovers on your plate. thank you for this post

Yes. We have several restaurants in our country that offer "eat all you can" promo for a reasonable price. That's true, you no leftovers allowed and takeout leftovers for your petdogs. I enjoy the variety of food. I used to take a little bit of everything but really makes me full. so when you go to buffet/eat all you can resto you must be hungry to accommodate as many as food as you want hehehehe.

Hi Ms. I agree, one should only go when truly hungry in order to be able to enjoy the food and get what you've paid for. They are "sometimes only" treat for me these day. I appreciate your input and wish you a happy day. Karen

Yes we do have "smorgasbords" here too. You must go there when you have a good appetite to get your money's worth and get it you will. A little of that, a little of these and all are mouth watering for a fixed rate. Yes, they don't allow doggie bags, if they do I'm sure many will take advantage of it. The idea is "eat all you can" and no take homes. Fair enough. have fun!

Ahhh, yes, smorgasbords is another name for them, and I could not think of it, so thank you! :) You're right, all kinds of mouth-watering treats, and yes, I have come to the conclusion that, as many of you have said, that "no doggie bags" is fair, as there are those who would take undue advantage! Have a good weekend. Karen

Hello Cher. Our pizza hut in my town is the same...the lunch buffet, and during the week days only, and then there is one restaurant that has a breakfast buffet every day and a seafood buffet on weekends. There a few more, and they are always a fun treat...more rare for me in this economy, but extra special now when I do go. Like you, I go on an empty stomach lol! Karen

Hi, PeacefulWmn9. This is what I dislike the most about going out to eat. Whatever food that we have left over the diner does not offer doggie bags at all. This is really bad. Sometimes, I have food that is left over on my plate and I want to take it home with me so that I can finish eating it. There is this Japanese diner here where I live at and they offer doggie bags to customers. Shoney's does not. That is why when I go out to eat to Shoney's I will try to eat what I can manage. It is a waste of my money when I can't take out the left over food to my house. They should give out doggie bags. That is a way for their customers to say that they enjoyed the food that they prepared. They are given an compliment and they don't even know it.

Hi Cream. Yes, when we order from the menu and the portions come in pre-determined sizes, it's a shame we cannot take home and use the leftovers. So much food that goes to waste doing it like that. Most of the restaurants here do allow "doggie bags," but not the all-you-can eat buffets. Karen

I love buffets too and I have the same problem as you, my eyes are bigger than my belly! We have several where we live and they are reasonably priced too. I can see why they don’t allow doggie bags though because there are those who would take advantage and overload their plates just so they can take the food home for tomorrow’s dinner! I particularly love the breakfast buffet, love brekkie food...

Hello my friend PeacefulWmn9 Ji, Firsdt thing that I am happy to meet yopu again. In case of Buffets, I do not encouraging 'boxing' for left over, as tehre it involves 'eat , whatevron ecan eat. So people may take knowingly more and start asking to pack. But our side there are hotels, where there is fixed plates and if on eisunable to finish, on emay ask to getit packed for home. Here it is everywhere at different prices round the year. Also, it is at educed rates dutrng festivals to attaract public I visit as per my purse and as per need of the hour May god bless You and have a great time.

Hello my friend. It is also nice to see you again :) For me, too, eating out anywhere is most apt to include how much money I have left over, so I no longer do it often. You have this style of dining in hotels? The restaurants in many hotels are very nice. As always, you use wisdom and common sense in your life :) Peace and blessings to you. Karen

eat all you can is popular here in the philippines, my family often go to eat all you can restaurants. before we go to the restaurants,we make sure that we are not full so that we could eat a lot of food and so that our money we pay for it is worth the price, sounds funny but it's really fun.

Hello Xanne. It is good to go to all you can eat buffets on an empty stomach, as your family does, for there is so much available! It would be a shame to be too full to enjoy that. THank you for your response. Karen

Hi karen, Glad to hear from you again! Yes, we do have a restaurant here in our place offering an eat-all-you-can for a good price. They're offering it during weekends where people can go and enjoy five different menus apart from noodles, desserts and drinks. I can have a taste of all what is on the buffet table but I'll take only small portions of it so I can have it all. It is really a rule of all restaurants not to take any leftovers from the customers plates otherwise, everybody will take food to their plates more than what they can eat. Good Day!

Buffets are for gluttons and I consider myself a real glutton. I know it is a sin but I cannot help it, especially when I see all the delicious food spread out on the table. I love buffets. I can never resist them. I am a heavy eater; thus, I think buffets really suit me. But I try not to eat buffets more than once a month because it is not too healthy also.

Hi Ingking. I would love to visit the Philippines someday. Hi Karen, Yes, we do have restaurants that offer buffet style and I love them. My favorite is a local pizza & pasta restaurant that offers 'eat-all-you-can' every Tuesday and Thursday. My kids love going to the buffet table and getting their favorite pizza and pasta on their own. Partner it with refillable drinks and presto, we have a feast! Well yes, the downside is you can't take the leftover foods home. But that's okay, whenever we want we just order some for take out.

hi there are also many restaurants offering buffet in china. as you said, you can eat variety of food on a price. i often go to such a restaurant, but i found that it is not worthy to do so. i can not eat so much and if i do not finish what i have taken, i would be punished. and we can not take them home.

Yes, we do have all you can eat, one price, buffets where I live. I love the idea of getting one flat rate to enjoy as much food as you want and at most buffets if you eat just 2 plates(dinner food, desert food) you have gotten your money's worth. I really enjoy the ones that have numerous types of food choices. I think that they should atleast let you take home one doggy bag after you enjoy a meal, but as said before you get plenty for the money when you go.
