Skippy and Flipper...are they one and the same?

Well, let's take a look at the evidence... they have similar accents, speak a similar language, assist humans in tricky situations and both have a double 'p' in their names. OR, have we all been duped through our formative years... are they, in fact, just some bloke wearing different outfits... and has that same bloke, now obviously well past his prime, sunk so low and become virtually unemployable ...& had to resort to wearing the Barney the Purple Dinosaur suit??? Alas, how the mighty are fallen

Yes, they might very well be one and the same! I have heard that they used the laugh of a kookaburra played backwards to make the sound of flipper though and I am sure there would have been plenty of kookaburras in the background during the filming of Skippy. So maybe that is why they speak a similar tongue?

So, does Skippy put on a wet suit to play Flipper or Flipper put on his aunt's fur coat to play Skippy I wonder???

I think that Flipper squeezes into a fur coat for sure as Skippy wearing a wetsuit is a bit weird I think! Either that or they are both played by the Kookaburra wearing costumes!

I don't think they can be the same, unfortunately, though I respect your argument for your point. In my opinion, Skippy is Muffin the Mule in disguise, and Flipper is the Man From Atlantis's secret love child. Not many people would have thought of this, but I can see the similarities - skippy jumps, Muffin the Mule kicks. Flipper makes funny noises, and so does Patrick Duffy, who plays the Man from Atlantis. I'm sorry, but I think my case is the stronger one, although I am of course willing to debate this with you.

Sorry Sandra, you've only given me one similarity for each of your happy couples & really, the jumping and kicking aren't quite the same thing are they... now Zebedee and Tigger might have been a better argument??? ...and Muffin the Mule and Patrick Duffy both have a double 'f' so I can see how your confusion arose

I'd need to hear them utter the Magna Carta in Swahili to be 100% sure, but yes, I do believe they are one and the same. Skippy is purely Flipper in winter regalia.....

Oh James... thank goodness you've arrived to back me upon this one & to clarify that its Flipper who's into the role playing... do you suppose there is a Mrs Flipper in the background saying "Give the fish a break tonight and let me warm my flippers in your Skippy pouch...." Flipper, Flipper, Flipper the bush kangaroo....

It would be easier to decide if I knew if either of them could sing. :-)
