There's this item I wanted to buy from amazon but I don;t know if the transaction will be secure. Any tips on online transaction? Anything I should know about? What is the maximum reasonable amount to spend money online (the safe amount)? I'm actually worried of phising and credit card fraud too..

Ya what you have mentioned is right we need to patiently wait and get more and more details so that we do not go wrong in the procedure.

From what the fellow myLotters have shared, I think you need to know that you can buy things online using your credit card, or your Paypal account if you have one like cutepenguin said, or amazon gift certificate to buy things at amazon like minx267 said. You also need to provide your address to where the goods will be sent. For the rest, I'm not sure. Let's patiently wait for the rest of myLotters to respond here.

I buy stuff from Amazon all the time - it has always been secure for me and i have never had a problem with them. I have used my credit card and never had a problem. In fact I got an Amazon credit card through them so now what ever purchases I make with it earns me credit and when I reach 2500 points they send me a gift certificate for $25.00.. got a few of them already - good deal!

There are gift certificates too? That's neat! Does it charge a lot for the shipping fee? Because I live in Jakarta, not in the US. I'm afraid it'd be more expensive as it should be..

Yes, Amazon has gift certificates - in fact a few survey sites I ahve used have paid me with gift certificates to Amazon. it was really great (while it lasted) I am afraid I don't know what the shipping charges would be do your country. you can always start an order and see what it says and then back out of it before the payment option is entered. That way you know exactly how much you would need to buy your item. I have done that on some sites a few times.

Does amazon also accepts paypal accounts used for paying the items that you wanted to buy? Do they offer deleveries even outside the country? I was really wondering about this since it is my first time to try online shops.

I buy stuff on Amazon and occasionally on eBay. I've never had a problem. For eBay, I use my paypal account, and on Amazon, we use a credit card that has a low limit. I don't think we've ever spent more than $100 on something online though. My parents bought a computer online, and they didn't have any problems - they went through the Dell website.

I got a question too on buying things on ebay. Since they often sells used items, can you trust that the item delivered to you is the one you were expecting, or at least, the same with the picture?

I see. So we also need to examine the merchants too right? Is there any guarantee that we'll receive the good?

With eBay you are dealing with individual sellers- so no one know completely whether they will be honest about their merchandise. But if they get bad ratings by lying and not shipping on time etc. they lose their reputation and may even get banned. So most people are usually honest.

I haven't tried one yet at the moment but I was already searching for some online shops which can use my paypal account. i am not really sure if it is safe. Good thing you have asked the question for I have the same question as that too... I hope you don't mind if I read their responses so I could learn from these too... Thanks a lot.

I'm from Indonesia. I feel safer using Paypal, yes, because there's not much money in it.

yah... Are you of the same country as I am? Because I am also surfing the eBUY, their are a lot of stuffs their also that are good and can be afforded easily... But I will only use my paypal, since I did not linked it to any of my bank account so my other accounts will be safe. and nothing to worry much.

Yes, I bought many things online. Amazon is a respected seller. Always buy from respected sellers whom everybody refer. Or buy from eBay's sellers who have high ratings :)

So what's matter is the seller right, not the site? I'll try buy some things from those sellers. Thanks!

That's what I thought at first too. But then the site where you want to buy from or sell to actually guide you through the process.
