I have a Sony VAIO, 2.4 ghz with 2 gb of ram and its working perfectly with windows vista and its design is very beautiful. I think sony have better laptop technology then HP.

hi there.. i would say dont even think about going for an hp or compaq laptop if you have budget to go for sony.. i have both an hp and sony laptopd.. i think the quality of hp systems are no where near that of sony and these day a lot of friend and i have been finding tough ime with the hp pc.. and they are giving a lot of complaints .. i think sony though they cost almost double that of hhp it is a far better choice if you are looking for a laptop for a long term use... cheers..

Price wise, I think it is a better options to go for HP. Sony's product is very expensive due to its brand. Sony Camera, laptop, memory card so on and so forth are generally more expensive than its competitors. It has nice design and stuff, but if you are a person who doesn't go for design, HP is a good alternative.

I think HP is better in terms of durability. Sony laptops are a bit sensitive and we have to handle it with care. I have heard this from so many people. If you compare the technology then offcourse there is not doubt that sony laptops are way better.

Unfortunately we have sad experience on sony laptops particularly the viaos, my cousins viao's had overheating and battery problem on it's 2nd year and my other cousin's viao also on it's 2nd year, turned black out and the culprit is a defective dvd rom, the technician just pulled out the dvd rom and the laptop turned on. Maybe they just dont have luck on sony, lately, both of them switch to macs.

You could say that, but "to each his own". I would go for HP still. Lower in price and personally, HP (especially the Pavilion series) is sleeker.

Why do people insist on comparing brands when it comes to computers? Look at the bloody specifications!! That's what really matters, and if that's what you care for, brand should come near last just because it may look better, be a bit smaller or just generally provide a better warranty and support. Beyond that, this discussion is pointless since it's not like you're even comparing two different laptops; you're just tossing out brand names which tells pretty little.
