HELP! I'm planning to buy a DLSR, any suggestions?

My brother is currently taking up Multimedia Arts for College and they have a photography class that requires a DLSR. I have no idea which one to get him because I'm really no expert at this. I'm planning to buy online, like at Amazon. Maximum budget is 800USD. Any suggestions? Your help would be very much appreciated!!! :))

If I will buy a DSLR, I will choose Nikon D90. Nikon is a professional brand for cameras. D90 has a new feature, that is to record the videos. In the past DSLR couldn't do this, but now this feature is able and this is a big improvement. But if you want to buy a DSLR for about USD800, I think perhaps you have to choose Olympus 520. D90 may be higher than your budget. But as a good DSLR, I think D90's price is already alright.
