Christian quotations

I like keeping a record of interesting quotes, and before the Internet was the big thing, I used to do this in old notebooks. When I ran a Christian bookshop, I would spend some time each day writing out an extract from one of the books on the shelves and putting it on a special blog. However, I left the shop three years ago, and the blog has been in limbo for three years. Today, when I came across a quote I thought I'd like to keep, I decided to start the blog up again. This time the quotes will be shorter, generally, but it seems like a good place to keep them. The second post is actually a poem by Mary Oliver, but it's about life and death and how we view them. I think it's great. I found it on someone else's blog (!) http://dailywriter.blogspot.com/

You probably already have these quotes. The first is well known and was found in the diary of Jim Elliot after he was killed by Auca Indians. It is my motto here on myLot. So live, that when you come to die, you have nothing left to do, but die. The second is anonymous as far as I know: If there is no fruit in my life, there is no reason for my existence.

Thanks for these, Cloudwatcher. I haven't got them on my blog, although I know the Jim Elliot one from way back. I'll have to look on the Net and see if I can track down the source of the other.
