Do You Celebrate Your Pet's Birthday?

I believe that most people here like celebrate their birthday in various ways. You see, some people may want to do something pompous and crazy for their birthday; others often invite some best friends to get together to have a meal. But have you heard that some people celebrate the birthday of their pets. It was recently reported that more and more pets have had birthday parties thrown for them by their owners. My friends tell me that there are some people who pay more attention to their pets birthday other than themselves. Do you celebrate your pet's birthday? If you were thinking of throwing a party for your pet, what would you do to celebrate it?

I don’t celebrate them as such but I do acknowledge them and give them special food or a treat but that’s about it. At Christmas Santa leaves toys for my daughter and she always finds a little sack full of goodies for the pets. A friend of mine used to do crazy things for her dog Justa (just a dog) and she would throw birthday parties for her and dress the poor animal in a tutu; she used to have a birthday cake for the dog and invite all the kids in the street to celebrate which was a little strange to say the least but the children didn’t mind, there would be party games and loot bags etc! I adore my animals but would not go that far!

Hi paula: i generally give candies to my dog and when we're eating a special meal there's a piece for the dog too so, maybe i don't celebrate my dog's birthday but he makes part of the celebrations. Lol. XD

It sounds like your dog is included in all the family's celebrations anyway!

Hi getbrowser, I haven't kept any pet for quite a long time for I could hardly spend any spare time to take good care of it. Yeah, might be I would like to celebrate the birthday of my pet dog or cat if I were to keep one As far as I know certain pet animals are faithful to their owner completely. I had watched a tv series recently. It's about pet dogs as well as how to take care of them. The story also teaches how to care of the abandoned tray dogs.

Not many people would know their pets birthdays so I guess the answer would be No. But they do join in in many other celebrations

Yeah, but I guess if most people know their pets birthdays, many of them will celebrate their pet's birthday.

I haven't thrown a bash for my cats. I can remember the months but both the month and day for the youngest of the three cats. But I don't really celebrate my own so I wouldn't have the time to celebrate theirs. I do always try to get them little toys and treats whenever i can. Otherwise some brita water, their favorite food, and belly runs a plenty.

Nope, I don't celebrate it. There are several reasaons to it First of all, the pets I have are already usually a few months old when we have them thus I don't really know when they are born. Secondly, It would be expensive to make a party solely for my pet. Thirdly, the affection I show it, is already sufficient and a party is no longer required to make it feel loved. :)

I don't do much celebrating on my birthday anymore but do go out to dinner with my husband, kids and their spouses if we can all get together the same night. I don't celebrate our pet's birthday. He is just another year older and moving slower. We give our dog treats all year so his birthday is nothing special. If I were to give him a party it would be at a dog park or somewhere outside. Strange dogs in our house could be a big, major mess. His birthday is in December so it would be rather cold here to have any party outside.

I did once, when I was a little girl I celebrated our very first family cats birthday with my sisters it was silly but kind of fun hahaha, we even let him eat a bit of ice cream and he got it all around his mouth it was so cute. but now that I'm older I dont celebrate pet birthdays so much anymore because they dont really understand that stuff, so it seems too silly now, but with my most recent cat I will give my cat a scratch behind his ears and rub his tummy instead. My very first cat lived for ten long happy years I miss him a lot. I have another sweety but my first cat will always hold a special place in my heart those were good years.

Totally! Our pets deserve parties too - they have to sit and endure all of our holidays, and presents, and cake & wrapping paper...so they deserve their own special day! We usually get our dogs special toys & treats, and I like to knit them scarves or even sweaters if I have time! And they totally love it!

My family has always celebrated our pets' birthdays. We would hae a little cake and ice cream and squeeze toys for the pets. I don't know what the pets think what was happening though. I think the party was more for our family in the end than our pets.

Hi getbrowser: i think that's a funny question and actually i think i won't celebrate my pet's birthday just because he won't understand that we're clebrating something for him. I truthly love my pet and i think i'm a good owner but it's just a dog period. I know i bought on january 2001 but my dog probably don't remember how old is he. Lol. XD. I give him the love he deserves as my pet everyday not in "his birthday". Even with that thanks for your question, it sounds interesting.

I don't know what's my dog's birthday as we got her in a shelter, but maybe I would feast it if I knew. Not that she cares a thing, but now she's a member of the family, I bring her some new toy everytime I go abroad, I guess we'd also feast her birthday if we knew!

Acutally, I love pets very much. Especially the dogs, becasue I think, dog is very loyal. However, When you ask me will i celebrate the birthday for my pets. My answer is no. The first reason is that I don't know their birthday. The second reason is, its seems too unrealistic. The pets will not konw you are clebebarting his birthday. However, if you really love your pets, treats him well every day, it equals to celebrating his birthdays every day.

dog - pet dog
No. We don't celebrate the birthday of our pets. We don't exactly know when our pets were born. Some of our dogs were given to us by friends. Our cats were given to us by our friends, too. I am not thinking of throwing a party for our pet, lol. If ever there is, it would be a riot for his friend dogs to come and celebrate. Won't they scramble for the food? Would they come in party dresses or coat and tie? hahahaha

We have one Labrador in the family who is so pampered. We do know his birthday but we do not throw parties for him. He usually gets a treat on that day just like we give ourselves treats on our birthdays. But then our dog does not care for the company of other dogs, but he loves humans. I do not think he will like partying with other dogs.

Nope, since I have no idea when my pet was born. But, I never fail to give it treat or present during Christmas day.
