Use of Debit Card for Paypal Verification...

Philippines

Okay, this one is a different question than most of you are probably used to already. I am currently using my debit card to verify my paypal account and be able to withdraw money from it. It has therefore allowed me to conveniently withdraw money from my paypal to my local bank account. And recently, I have been loving mylot so much that I asked my brother to create his own mylot and paypal account too, since i am fully aware that you cannot use the same paypal account for two different users here. So, here's the question.. Is it possible to use the same debit card I used for verification of my paypal account upon starting a new paypal account for my brother? I was just asking this to know if It is fine for him not to open his own debit card account anymore. Thanks for sharing!

No, I don't think it's possible because you need the card under owner name. Until now, paypal didn't accept my debit card so I need outside card for verification. Better, create bank and debit card under the user name.

If your bank not cooperate with paypal then your debit card denied by paypal, I have been contact to the bank and they said "your debit card cannot use for online transaction, you need credit card which can use for Paypal (online transaction)". You're lucky you can use debit card for verification, I do not know what the reason on my bank cannot verify with debit card I guess because it more cheaper than using credit card.

Have you tried registering your debit card for online banking? I think that is the missing link here. Once your debit card has been registered for online banking, then I guess it should be easy to verify your paypal using that card. I suggest you try this option.

What do you mean that paypal did not accept your debit card? I had no problem verifying mine with my debit card. What did they say the problem was? Yes, will look at possibly opening his account soon so he too can be a member here in mylot.

I don't think you can use the same debit card to verify multiple paypal accounts. But hey, I can give you a suggestion. You don't need to verify your other paypal account. And you will be able to get the money into your unverified paypal account from mylot. However, the withdrawal limit for that account would be 500$. I am not sure whether you will be able to withdraw money from that unverified paypal account to your bank account, but you can surely transfer that money into your verified paypal account. I hope you are clear withw hat i said. What i mean to suggest is, you can ask your brother to use unverified paypal account, and then later on when he recieves money from mylot he can transfer it to your paypal account and you can withdraw it to your bank account. I have got this worked for me.

I was told that it does if they are not verified. But when i tired transferring around 11$ from an unverified paypal account to a verified paypal account, it did not charge me anything. I gess, a vice-versa may charge. But i dont think you need t do that. You will prefer transferring money from unverified paypal to verifed paypal, right.

Right, indeed. It just does not makes sense unless you want the money to just sit there. Thanks for the information and I will look at it as a possible option. Happy mylotting!

Yes, I do get what you are trying to say here. Nice option indeed. But I was just wondering if transferring money from one paypal account to another charge a fee? And if it does, how much?

i think i already read about "using the same paypal account". all you have to do is state in your "account affiliations" in "preferences", the name of the member who will use the same paypal account. both your earnings will go to that same paypal account of yours. with the debit card, i tried it with my co-employee here who do not want to open a debit card account or have no card at all, but paypal do not accept one credit or debit card used for another paypal account.

Hi Abby, I suggest you open another account for your little brother if he has his paypal already, it is convenient to open a debit account if your brother has his won identity card, right? I am expecting the first earning from mylot this month, and I used the credit card to link my paypal verification, just wonder which interets is higher while we withdrawed the money from paypal to the credit card and debit card. Have a nice day.

I am not really aware since I haven't verified my paypal account using credit card. Sorry I wasn't of help. As for my little brother's account, yes I am thinking of creating a debit account for him since I think that is the most convenient process.

It's will be risky if you used your debit card to verify your paypal account.I suggest you to use vcc ( virtual credit card ). It's `will only cost in small price and also low risk.

Well, I have used it already. It is actually quite secure and I haven't had problem with using my debit card for paypal verification. I have not heard about this virtual credit card though..

The same debit card I'm almost positive wont work. But, it's been awhile since I made a new Paypal. Had mine forever! All I know is you need a different bank account for each Paypal account so, I guess you would need a different debit card.

Yeah, I guess so. And the explanations given by other users above explained the thing quite well to me. I guess it's time to open a new debit account then!

I might be wrong but I don't think you can use your debit card to verify for your brother's paypal account. The card belongs to you and it is under your name so it is only good to be used for the person who owned it. Cards are traceable with the last 3 digits in the card. It is better for your brother to have his own debit card for this verification purposes.

I understood it now. After all, it is for security purposes and for proper identification of the real cardholder. Appreciate you dropping by with this information. I will then figure out starting a bank account for my brother

As you asked for 'Is it possible?", my answer is for IMPOSSIBLE. That is why PayPal use https (not http) for its domain web. The 's' means Secure and SSL type which is Secure Sockets Layer with certificate endorsed. Whatever, you can still make special request by telling the true and through purpose of it by directly contact PayPal through its hotline number for verification issue. I previously many times use their hotline number to solve my problems related to PayPal matter. Who knows you're very lucky, and share the news on its progress either approved or rejected, share it back on here for members' benefits.

That is a load of information right there. I am very pleased about what you had to share. As you can see, I only started using paypal for online transactions this year, so I am quite new to this process, if you may say. I'll see about the method you have suggested though, but if not then I wouldn't insist on it. Thanks michael!

I'm pretty sure you can't use the same debit card. Paypal has a pretty tight security system, so it most likely won't allow you to use a debit card for two different accounts, for scam-prevention purposes. I hope this helps=)!

hello abby, If you can't have two Paypal accounts, then you can't have your debit card on the other Paypal email either. the merchant was specific about having only one card and paypal email address. unless you have other debit card, you can't use the one that you're using in your paypal account. he should have his own account, besides 350 pesos from Union Bank ain't that expensive, there's isn't even a maintaining balance

I know. I am actually using Eon from unionbank right now as my debit card. I have no problem because I know that opening an account, cus its a cheaper option. However, I hate lining up in banks and if i had this option, then it would save me from lots of hassle. But as I see that isn't allowed, then I might surely would open a new one for my brother.

Oh, really. Great to hear it from you junmae. Now I won't have to go through such hassle. It was nice of you to inform me. I guess the only solution would be to transfer money to my verified paypal or open a new bank account. Thanks!

I guess the best thing to do is that your brother should have his own bank account. You could assist him about financial matters if he is too young to handle. So both of your accounts is safe. You can do whatever you want with the money you earn and he could also use his own for his own purposes. This is just to avoid any complications later.

Yes, i agree. I am actually contemplating on starting his own debit card account too, but was just trying to see if I could work things out. Some members above have already suggested methods that I could try too.

We are not allowed to link the credit/ debit card to more then one Paypal account for verifiction process. As the debit card or the credit card is linked to the PP account to verify our residential address only, we can not verify the others address with our card. On the other hand, as your aim is to make your brother to participate in mylot, you can do and also he can earn and receive it seems. Here mylot is not clear about their terms. In the guidelines, we have been informed to not to share our PayPal id with others.(Please refer: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx, in the DON'T do, second guide line ). On the other hand, if we check the account affiliation page, we have the option to share our Paypal account( Please refer:http://www.mylot.com/nr/editaffiliations.aspx. Here we can share our Paypal account email id with the otehrs...Confusing?? Better to contact Mylot itself regarding this and if they reply to you, please let us know the fact regading this so that we can also know about that.

Nice information there. Ok, will try to review this matter on the mylot guideline. But if not, then I guess it's best to settle with the idea of creating a separate debit account for my brother. I was just looking at this option.

I would say your best bet is to get your little brother his own bank account. I don't think that your going to be able to use your own debit card for two different accounts, especially because your debit card links it to your account. If you're worried about your brother having his own account, if he's too young, just get it activated and then hide it from him :) Good luck to you!

Ok, now that makes sense. I actually suspected it already but I just went on asking to confirm it and who knows it might be possible. But hearing from what you just said, then I think I'd be better off creating a new bank account for him. However, this one would have been convenient though. Anyways, appreciate the information you had to offer. Pretty useful indeed!
