I love history and enjoy visiting historical sites. I am actually reading a ghost story book that discusses rea hauntings. Two of te ones I have rad so far are about seperate gold rush/ghost towns. It has kindled an interest in these types of historical tourist sites. Have any of yo been to any really good sites like this? I know I want to visit Scagway, Alaska. What is your opinion? Have you been to places like these, and if so which would you reccomend and why?

I visited one on New Zealand. We saw some very interesting and very small houses that the Chinese settlers that came there had lived in, but I can't remember the name of the place. :-/

I bet that was interesting. Generally I think of ghost towns as being in the American old west. I bet one in New Zealand was very interesting and different!

I love traveling and am interested in going to historical places. I have been to some gold mining areas in Australia. I have been to other places that have a rich history. In South Africa I visited a place that mined for crystals and gem stones. I enjoyed visiting that area very much indeed.

I have been to a couple, my state is pretty close to Alaska, and I've been through there a couple times. Surprisingly, there have been a lot of ghost towns created over the years thanks to huge corporations like Wal-mart. I'm not trying to get into a huge Wal-mart argument heh, but it's pretty sad to look at some of the problems it has caused to some towns. They are so eerie and creepy and silent. You can hear the most bizarre types of wind blowing through the rotting halls.

That's what I have heard. I would love to go visit one just to have the experience.
