starting the day with coffee grounds

This morning while stumbling around the kitchen with the first chores of morning, I found one cup of coffee left over from yesterday, being a total tight wad I poured it into my cup and microwaved it. I started the new pot and left to drink my old coffee while watching my art lessons on public TV. Understand that I am hardly awake by this time and watch without much attention, just before the end of the lesson, when I am evaluating whether or not I could paint like that I reach the end of the coffee. Well the unwelcome texture of coffee grounds wakes me completely. I have a whole mouth full. Now what? I chew a few times and then go fot the tissues to clean my mouth. Now my mind is considering the choices, should I go rinse my mouth or should I just try to get the stuff out of my mouth with a tissue, meantime the next art lesson is starting so I just keep the tissue close and watch the lesson about half way through I realize the tissue is just not getting all the grounds out of my mouth, so again I evaluate my choices, then I start to laugh, I understand that I can take the easy way and go rinse my mouth or I can chew grounds for the next hour or two, what a choice to start the day. Mind is still active and I realize this is the cross roads for the whole day and that each and every day gives you this type of choice each morning, is what you do at that choice going to make oar break your whole day. What silly creatures we humans are to allow, most of the time without thought, the first few actions of each day to rule our lives. Still laughing I make it to the kitchen and pur a new cup of coffee. Washing the rest of the grounds down with the first swallows. I did this to to make myself even more aware of the fact that we live in now and by understanding that I can make a mindful choice as to what to can do next. Bottom line would you have rinsed and forgotten or rinsed and allowed it to color your whole day, or just got another cup of coffee and forgotten the whole thing? Please have fun when you answer this. Enjoy

Now, if I'd try the "clean it out with the tissue" idea, I'd likely have ended up with shreds and kleenex dust in my mouth AND the coffee grounds. Tea slugs aren't a lot better, well some better. Or egg shells?? Those gag me! And yes, that kind of a start to the day can taint it if we aren't careful :D Morning mishaps: Mistaking the ben gay or hand cream for the tube of toothpaste. Using hairspray instead of deoderant under one's arms...or vice versa. Putting the cereal in the fridge and the milk in the cupboard. I've either done the above, or known someone who has lol. Getting hair in your mouth because it was stuck to your electric toothbrush. Karen

Like you, I don't believe in wasting anything. If I have coffee left over I put it in the fridge and the next day--or even later that same day--I'll add some sugarless stuff, ice it down and have a yummy iced coffee. I save the grounds for my plants, they love them!

My husband would have gagged big time, but I would probably said, such is life, and rinsed and forgotten. I forget lots of things.

I probably would have laughed about it, rinsed my mouth and then come here and posted a discussion about it. Except for the fact that I rarely drink coffee, that is...

I definitely would have rinsed my mouth out, poured the old coffee down the sink and made a fresh one but you see I would not have started the day with cup of old micro waved coffee to begin with! I want to start the day the best way possible and it is one of my life lessons to learn to let go of mishaps, forget and go about having a great day!

I must admit that that has happened to me, and I gagged on it. I am now much more careful about looking in the coffee pot while pouring it. By the way, I did spit it out.
