Can you think for yourself or not?

Whenever there is a question asked about God, I see people quoting verses from Bible or Koran. Can people think for themselves or not? If we are to depend on books, why did God give us a mind to think? And why a questioning spirit?

Accurate observation; but I'm afraid I ain't sure it would make any difference to 'them'. We have a 'God-gifted' mind and a questioning spirit; yet the 'Creator' has the nerve to punish us if we use it.

My brother, Questioning spirit is given u by Allah to question everything else in life, but not Allah's wisdom. Allah is wiser than us. Is he not the Almighty? Did he not create the heavens and Earth? The Creator - Allah (There is no majesty, no might save in Allah, the Glorious, the Great)- has not the nerve, to punish. AYE! AYE! It is his right to punish, just as you punish ur mischievous children'' just as teacher hits black and blue the notorious students. It is God's right. Yeah; It is God's right. My brother, we children of God have to submit ourself like servant to will of God(That is his Glory). And not rebel against him. Surely we are not wiser than he? Lest Allah becomes wroth with us (He is merciful, but should we test his patience).

I do not just question God/Allah's wisdom, I rather question his existence. And so far, how much ever I have tried finding your kind of God, I've been let down. So, my inference as of now is that he does not exist. If he punishes us for silly reasons as commonly known I can only imagine him to be a narcissist retard and such a megalomaniac does not deserve being our 'creator'. What a silly game of God. He 'creates' us. Shows us the candy and punishes us when we fall for it. What is he going to achieve out of this? Some serious mental disorder in sight! And I need not be wiser than non-existent creatures.

Heartbeat, ability to drink or breathe are no proofs of God in the wildest stretch of imagination. They only prove the existence of air, water, nature, me, my nose, my respiratory system, digestive system, nervous system and many other factors but not God ever. Why do you insult all these things? Again, no God has ever been proven to be existing. So he being kind, merciful and giving me certain natural stuff is just out of question. The titles I used for him were only after assuming that he existed. The rest of your post only proves that you didn't read my message. No wonder though.

I can see you have a questioning spirit, frederick. Nice! Who can really know all the different reasons people depend on holy books for all the answers. Maybe everyone wants to be smart and never considered dumb. Memorize the holy book and you can't be wrong.Throw that verse at them. All they really do is prove they are great at memorizing. Lot of people have heard this stuff from birth. It can be a bit brainwashing. The true knowledge that surrounds God is limitless. Religion puts God in a nice little package for people. They make God easy. As we all know in life, there is always much more to every story. I can never go for limited knowledge about anything epecially when so much of said packages is wrong and clearly written by man. God has much more wisdom than can be found in any holy book. The learning never stops, for there is always more to learn. God just won't fit in any box. Like Frederick said. WE ARE MEANT TO THINK!!!! I intend to do just that!!

Wisdom of god cannot be questioned. Those are his rules, my brother. Allah is glorious and great. We need to bow down in frnt of him. In Islam there is no brainwashing there is truth in Islam. Al Quran written by man, but inspired by god himself. But peoples go on denying (Who understand the glory of Allah who is great and mrciful If we question the wisdom of Allah, he will be angry. We need to obey him whatever is writen in Al Quran (Is he not our creator). Peace!

Never will i think for myself. It i Allah who thinks for me. My brother, questioning spirit you speak of. True , True,Allah gave u Q spirit. But tha spirit we have to use for all other sapect in life, but never, never, never to question the wisdom of God. God is far wiser than us. God's word or truth is there in Quran. Muhammad wrote it under inspirtion from Allah. Who else can inspire such a wonderfull book? Quoting verses very very important becox Allah gave Al Quran. still, why is it that people deny? Questioning spirit! Questioning spirit! In the name of Allah, who gave u the questioning spirit? How dare you question the wisdom of Allah? He gave you mind so u can undertand Quran. He gave u air to breathe, food to eat.

Some people are quoting bible verses because from this book you will know who really GOD is. This people shows what they are sharing are the words of GOD and not of their own. The Holy Bible is a letter written by ordinary people who were anointed by GOD to write His laws and commandments to people like us who are hard headed, arrogant, disrespectful, unknowingly hurting God and people by their intelligence of questioning most of the time the written Word even though they themselves did not even read the Holy bible. It is a pity for us to judge the book by its cover. By the grace of GOD, HE has given us all the chances to know personally who really GOD is because the time will come that we will face the judgment seat of GOD. Start searching now the Holy Bible before it is too late. GOD BLESS!

Hi Frederick! I agree with you absolutely! I do believe in a supreme being, but She's definitely female! And what I don't get about devout followers, or bible bashers as I call them, is how they imagine that their God is unable to be as compassionate, empathic or understanding as they are. Isn't it a bit arrogant to believe they have more capacity for these qualities than their creator does? And everything on earth, and all the attributes we've been given are there to be explored and enjoyed, of course! And I also believe she has an awesome (and filthy!) sense of humour, she's got some gay mates, and she wouldn't expect a 12 year old victim of incest to go through with the pregnancy!

It's because the question is asked about God, therefore it makes sense to quote from the ultimate book of one's religion. If such answers are not wanted, the question should make that clear, IMHO
