I have trouble remembering name of persons that I know. I should not be forgetting their name. Sometimes it is embarassing when I can't remember someone's name in the middle of a conversation.

I forget names of my classmate before. About meeting new people is a different story. It depends on how many people I meet. If I meet them at one time and they are more than five it will be hard for me to remember their names, when they had done unforgetable or memorable scene I will remember them. If I meet one or two people then it will not be hard to remember their names.

I am usually very good at people's names. When I first met my husband I was a little iffy on names because I hardly saw his family, but with his friends I knew there names a bit more as I saw them more. I remember being very surprised he called his grandparents by their first name as I am not allowed to call my grandparents by their first name, and even whilst talking to my friend's parents, my grandparents always said to call them granny or grandaddy...

Hello jj. Like you, I also forget people's names sometimes and have to think about it before I can remember it again. I have so many students and sometimes when I can not remember their names, I will just ask them to answer my questions one by one without having to call their names. I feel embarrassed for this.

I had a marvelous teacher in junior high named Dale Smaljohn who taught the class to remember long series of numbers by having us do remembering exercises several times a week. I have always had a problem remembering people's names. I can remember telephone numbers and most addresses but cannot remember names.

I have the same problem and it's embarrassing, especially to those peoples I have met few times, but haven't seen for a while! Sometimes I'll just tell them sorry that I can't remember their names. And if they gave me their names or the person's name again, I'll do my best to put it in my head and hoping it wont happen again.

I do not remember well people's names, which is a very bad habit. I read in a book on how to improve memory. If you intend to remember, the choice goes much higher. And the you can relate the name with his appearance, the occasion where you meet, and the dialogue you have, etc. Just the spelling of the name is not enough.

Yeah it is pretty embarrassing sometimes. I can barely ever remember a persons name even after I met them a second ago. It is so bad. I have to constantly replay their name in my head so I don't forget it.

Yes, I do sometimes forget peoples names. If bugs me when I can not think of their names and if my husband is with me I will ask him. Sometimes he knows right off other times he is no help. I will even ask some friends if they know that person name and sometimes get an answer. Well now I know it is not just me that has that problem.

Yes this happens to me sometimes. Its like the persons name just pops out of my head. It can be people I have know for a very long time and have seen lots but its still happens! My husband is terrible with names and often calls people completely random names, I struggle sometimes to understand who he is referring to!

That is really normal. Peoples names are really hard to memorize. Especially when you don't get to meet the person often you can tend to forget. Also there are many duplicate names such as Mark, John etc. So you have to remember which Mark did what ? Which John did that ?
