http://www.9news.com/news/world/article.aspx?storyid=126794&catid=328 Wal-Mart will keep their stores open 24 hours to avoid the mad dash like last year. Do you think this will help? I think it will. Our Walmarts here are both open 24 hours so shopping day is really easy there. Do you think they should take other measures?

I don't know if that had anything to do with it but I have seen a LOT of stores having either pre- or post- Black Friday sales. One jewelry store that I want to purchase something for my wife is having their "Black Friday" on Saturday and this Sunday is a huge day (Sears, Macy's, J.C. Penny, etc...) for discounts on everything in the store. The first Black Friday I went to was a madhouse... almost literally. The second was more organized. The third they were only letting so many people in at a time and had police there (Best Buy). Last year it did not seem bad at all and in fact I was actually able to get what I was there to get (a lot of stores only have a few of the BIG sale items). Here is to a healthy happy safe shopping season '09! Thanks Zelo

I think it will help. I live in a small area so I'm sure I don't know exactly how rough it gets. Our walmart is a supercenter and is open 24 hrs anyway. I couldn't believe how easy things went the first time I went shopping on black friday. We went in and just strolled around and found the things we were there for and then stood by them. At 5 everyone just put what they want in their cart and went on their way. The worst part was the traffic jam in the isles and the people that can't drive a cart lol.

Hard to say what will happen, as you know people a crazy! I'm sure they did a lot of brain storming on this issue, and this is what they came up with! I'm also sure they didn't want to spent a lot of corporate cash to fix it either. So this is their cheap fix, and in my experience in life tells me it doesn't pass the smell test! tdemex

Hello, well in my area of living our wal-marts are 24-7. Now days that is how all wal-marts are. I don't think I have ever seen a wal-mart not open 24-7. But I do think with them being open 24-7 that it will help with the madness on black Friday. Now days you see people getting hurt or even getting killed over who is going to be through the door first at stores. In my opinion I think that when it comes to black Friday that all stores should be open for 24 hours so that maybe it will avoid this type of problems. My hubby and I don't go black Friday because he says that he will never shop on black Friday. I keep telling him that I want to go just once so that I can see how mad it gets. But I do feel that it will help avoid the madness. I feel that for them to take other measures that maybe they should get security guards for that day to help avoid the madness that happens on black Fridays. Happy Mylotting
