With the use of cell phones as part of our daily lives. It is also a very important thing to check-out our kids on school. Thats if they are using one. Do you think it is okay for our school children to use cell phone at school?

In middle school and high school yeah, but elementary school kids don't need too. Middle school and high school yeah it's okay, but shouldn't be allowed in class, they should have their phone on vibrate, and only answer if it's an emergency or of relevant importance.

yeah, maybe just leave your phone number in the principals office and that the child might contact you if there would be an emergency.

No fulltank students should not be able to use cell phones at school . 90% are not resposible enough to use them discreetly. It starts all kinds of problems of discipline and concentration at shool. Also it brings another item of value that could be stolen. Teachers should be hooked into a central system where parents can leave messages and if parents need to talk to their child they would use that system. When teachers get a break they would respond and allow the child to respond if need be.

Children having cellphones often put them one step closer to harm.

At the high school my daughter attended you had to have your phone off during school hours, except during lunch. There is no reason why a parent should have to call their child while he/she is in class and vice versa. If there is a problem, illness or emergency the main office at the school should handle it.

Hi, No, why kids require phone. And anyway there is phone in every school. If there is emergency school teachers can call you. Or you can call on school phone. This is age of children where they are eager to learn new things, and cellphone can definately create disturbance. and school time is generaally 5- 6 hours. So you have so much time to talk with your child. At least, let him enjoy schoollife for 5-6 hrs.

You're absolutely right, our children knows our numbers and phones are there for them to contact us. Even my kids principal have my number saved on his phone.

Cell phones should not be allowed at school. They are distracting for children to learn. Kids survived without cell phones before they were invented and they can survive now.

I think that the same rules would apply as in the workforce. They are preparing for the workforce anyways. Use the phone during breaks and lunches and keep your phone on silent/vibrate during work to catch any emergency calls. The teachers would have the discretion to excuse the student if/and when they needed to use the phone during class.
