When you go shopping, are you "prepared"?

When I say prepared, I mean the full preparation as if you're going on a field trip. And is this discussion aimed at ladies only? Well, I can't really say, I guess this can go for the Metrosexual Men as well, and our other favourite male shopping friends (You know who you are *WINK*)! What myself, my sisters, my friends, and my mother, unfortunately we can't ALL go together, but in different scenarios, we pick a mall, pick a date, most likely one of those sale days, beforehand, we decide if we should wrap up the day with a dinner at a restaurant, eat at the food court for a break, OR take a snack with us, this is like a chocolate bar, grapes, water bottles, apple, orange, something you'd expect to find in a little kids lunch. So meal prep out of the way, we make sure to wear clothes that are EASY to slip out of (for the many changing of the clothes if we are clothes shopping)as well as a strapless bra, if it applies, or in my case, since I get sick of trying on so many clothes (short version of my long story? Excema on the backs of my arms plus irritation equals PO'd little lady!) I judge by eye if something will fit me...but if it's a dress to DIE for, I will suck it up and try it on, nothing is MORE disappointing than buying a dress and having it look like CRAP after you get it home. ANYWHO, to continue, alright, so we got food prep, easy to slip out of clothes, we also have to add comfy shoes, be these crocs, sneakers, sandals (Yes, in the winter even, because we go from heated vehicle to heated mall). An ULTRA must before making a shopping trip? Clean out that purse! Or downgrade to a wallet, with only the MUST BRING cards, the less weight you go in with, the better, plus! Think of your backs everyone! And maybe snag a shopping cart if you can to pile everything in so it's easy for EVERYONE. Now, you might ask, well do we divide and conquer? This is very much up to you, each group is different, myself though? I'm a quick shopper, and I tend to be done before everyone else, but then again, I get to help them decide what looks good on them! This also gives me a chance to do another lap around the store for things I may have missed (teehee)! SO! Do you have a routine? Do you think I'm crazy for going this in depth with shopping? Lol, I won't be insulted if you do!

shopping - I love to shop at bath and body works its one of my favorite place to go to.
I never prepare when I go shopping. I just go and get my shopping done. I visit about 4 or 5 stores in a couple hours. I look for sales all the time when I am in a store. It doesn't take me forever to shop either. My mom takes hours to shop because she loves reading details on everything she picks up. I read up on things I buy but I don't take a long time to read up on the product.

Well, I kinda meant when it's planned as a group outing almost. But I go straight for the sales as well haha! I don't like the fact that, for a top for example, the LESS clothing it has on the darn thing, the MORE expensive! I don't really pay attention to the materials myself either, If there's a cleaning issue, THAT'S when I read it. Thanks for responding!

Oh okay I understand now. Yes sometimes there is planing when there is a group of us going shopping. But mainly me and my mom go shopping together. I wont pay for something high priced either when the shirt is tiny like you said. Winter will be here soon so I have been getting winter things for the family.

I hate to shop... especially for clothes IF I must shop at a mall, I will go in pretty much knowing exactly WHERE I want to go, hit it and get out. There are exceptions, craft stores, bead stores, stitching stores (sense a theme here?)

I love shopping but i hate going to the fitting room.I know my size so i just grab and pay.Sometimes if i feel doubt about it i try to fit it but it just seldom happen. Before i used to love strolling around from store to store. But now i just go directly to the store where i know i can find what i want. After shopping then we take time filling up our atomach in the food court and go home.

Oh yes! Nothing burns calories better than shopping, what with the stressing, the walking, the concentration...well...on other people. Kind of scary the amount of concentration is on some peoples' faces haha. And heaven forbid when the cashier says those dreaded words, "All sales are final", that's when sometimes yah gotta suck it up and make sure it fits and looks right. MAN I hate when they make it look GOOD on the mannequins...and you get home, try it on, and it just looks YUCK! What possessed me to get this? Right? Stupid Mannys...I wanna see the robust mannys...do they have those yet?

LOL, Just tomorrow I am going to a city near by mine to shop for LUSH products because there is a store there and it's the closest to me. And I need to plan those kinds of stuff because I need to take a train to go there and I don't want to come home and go like "OMG I forgot this!" So I go with a list and with timing and all like since I am going there I use the oppertunity to check other stores near by. It's kinda like a field trip every time I go out shopping! I love it!!

Oooooooh! Lush is good (bath shop right? Or am I thinking of something else?). I'm the same way with that too, unless again, with a group, someone has to have a car. I travel public transit as well, and TRY my best not to travel during rush hour, due to delays with traffic, and the buses/trains are usually packed during that time as well.

yeah me too, i always enjoy shopping when i have anough money, for being prepared? i think the more you have money for shopping the less you become prepared for it bacause at the back of you mind you think that you can buy anything you may like anyway.. unlike if you just have a limited budget you really have to be fixed on what to buy and where and etc.,

Not crazy, just...well..different! I have a routine. I sit down at the computer and look everything up first. Then I go unprepared to a few stores just to look and gather information and ask myself, how will that look or fit a year from now, or two? My only preparation for that trip is NO BUYING. I go that day with sales resistance. Then after a few days I go try a few things on and if the price is right and they fit good and look good I buy one of each. Then after wearing them a few days and I still like them I either go back and get more of the same or order the same online. Then I don't have to worry about shopping any more for a LONG time. Also because I am pretty frugal about the clothes I buy, the money saved is for buying lunch out, so I do not have to pack any lunch. I'm not really crazy about shopping so I bribe myself to go by planning on buying munchies at the mall. Malls usually have great munchies...like Todai's Seafood Buffet or the Mongolian BarBQ. Mmmmm. Munchies! For me these are the end-all and be-all for shopping.

LOL! It's funny that you say that you have to bribe yourself to go shopping for a "gift" to yourself, because just today I have chiropractor appt, and I WAS going to cancel it, until I remembered the BEST burger place they have in the mall, and I just fell in love with their mushroom sauce burger *droolz*...so I didn't cancel my appt because I want this burger lol. Thanks for responding. p.s. - Online shopping does have the benefits, I totally agree. If I had a choice, I would do all the shopping online, but this little trip also gets all the girls together for good ol' retail therapy!

Dear friend, Mostly I am prepared with the money I have to pay. Moreover I would love to have night shopping and festival shopping. Sometimes shopping would turn to be disappointing if there is not much in there to select. Still at times the mood is something that makes shopping more better.

OOoooohh Night shopping! That reminded me of our 24 hour Walmarts throughout the city. It's uh...interesting at the one in the ghetto...10PM, and it was PACKED...on a Saturday too! But when I had insomnia, I would go at 3 am...well, not anymore, since the buses don't drive that late *pout* lol. But yeah, after midnight, aisles all clear, walking around with a coffee, sometimes with a friend...made it fun.

go shopping - If I have decided to go outside to buy something, I tend to make a detailed shopping list.
Yes, everytime when I am ready to go shopping, I tend to make some preparations for it. In fact, I often buy something online instead of going outside. You see, with the development of the Internet, I often choose to go shopping online. But if I have decided to go outside to buy something, I tend to make a detailed shopping list. According to what I know, it is really useful to help me save some money because I can buy all the goods following the list. Happy myLotting!

When i'm at the mall and saw something i like that's when i start shopping.from one item to another. i'm not thinking before hand and put it on schedule. as long as i've lots of time to spend in the mall. ia go shopping anytime i want. there's no need for other preparations just card and thick cash in your wallet. unless it's a sale. be there before the mall opens and run for the carts.

Hrm, now that I think about it, I don't I've ever seen anyone in line ups before a mall opens...unless it was a grand opening of sorts.

I go shopping only when I want to buy something. I will not roam around without any target except shopping in surpermarket. I love shopping in supermarket with those snacks, food and drinks.

I love grocery shopping too! I like finding those deals, getting ideas for party foods, or just dinner, even if it is for just me. My favourite deal though? When they have the bakery bagels on sale, unlimited, so I grab a bunch of different flavours, cut them when I get home, and freeze them, so they last extra long, but I always finish them before freezer burn sets in of course...hrm, I should clean out my freezer when I get home now that I think of it lol.
