Let's face it, no matter how hard we try to ern a hefty amount of money there will always come a time when we need to loan money. I think even Bill Gates has debts. But I'd like to see hope and encouragement that there is still an existing soul who is debt free. Do you believe that there is such person, too?

Hi eureka! You see if we live within our means, we can make do without loans. Sometimes, I also take loans but I take it for a shorter period and I try that I should return the loan as soon as possible. I do not feel comfortable in debts.

Thanks, Deepak.:-) Yup, I don't feel comfortable with having loans, too. Sometimes, I hate it when I have to use plastic for my groceries.LOL. The only consolation I have is that I am using the plastic for only the groceries and not on any other things unnecessary. I think I can still live with that. I'm low maintenance, still.LOL

As far as using plastic money or say credit cards are concened, I also use plastic money but for the sake of convenience not mainly for getting credit. I pay the pending bills as soon as it becomes due.

hi eureka^^;; never had loans on banks or lending companies but i did experience having debts too but not big and long. a day to 1 week is the longest i had and usually from my mother but so far this year, i never borrowed from anyone and i can say i am a debt-free until now. i realize that having debts is one result of spending more than one can earn. try to budget and spend less than what you get compensated, it'll be tough but it's worth cutting off the expenses than worrying how to pay back

Hello, Lucky.:-) Thanks. I'm happy to hear your story. It is quite a freedom to feel that you own no one in terms of monetary obligation. Congratulations.:-)

When I was young my father lectured to me somewhat about staying out of debt. For much of my life I ignored that advice, but I did try to have only one hire purchase going at a time. I would always pay my utility bills on time. Now I am 63, and I am out of debt. I have about $1500 ($NZ) in the bank as a buffer. I have a visa card that I use to make all purchases (so I get my loyalty points!) but every month I pay in full on the due date, so I never pay any interest. There are things I would quite like to buy, but although that might be nice, it's nicer knowing I am free from debt and money worries. I am content with my humble lifestyle. My house is paid for, my car is paid for, and I can have steak or pork chops when I feel like it; I am not living like a pauper. I guess I enjoy the virtuous feeling of "living within my means" :-) So it is possible.

Credit is a good thing when used wisely. Examples: Some credit cards pay cash back when you use them. Pay the bill off in the grace period and you have made free money. Buying a home is one of the best investments. Without credit you could never do it.Homes not only provide a place to live, they become more valuable in time. They supply a good tax credit. Everyone should have a house paid for by retirement. If you get old and run out of money, a reverse mortgage will pay you and you still live in the house. Credit is a bad thing when you pay 20% interest on credit cards. Who wants to reduce their buying power by 20%.

I do think that they are debt free people in the world. 1) A child of a wealthy parent who support their lifestyle and willing to give whatever their child want. If someone is in debt, it is their parents because they are the owner of everything 2) A happy go lucky person who live their life to the fullest even when in crisis. 3) A manager who manage his/her life to not take debts into his/her life diary.

Before 2001, I was the biggest debtor, owing more than the sanctioned limit, to more than 5 Bankers, It was a torturous time in my life, but it taught me a good lesson not to borrow anymore. Now I proudly say that I live a debtfree life, and hope to lead a debtfree life till the end.

i don't think there's such a person who doesn't have debts, like in the philippines, a new born baby elready has debts because of the country's debts, but i still wanna have hope that in the future it will not be the same
