What do you do during powercuts?

We have frequent power cuts in our area as it is rainy season. Although we have an inverter at times we have to kill time. Most of the time we have mass prayers, sing bhajans or just watch tv. How do you spend your time during such power cuts?

Hello bewitched, Power cuts are very usual in summer season. If I am doing something in kitchen then I will continue the work with the help of emergency light or a candle. If the power goes in deep sleep then it is annoying as kids will wake up and then I have to make the hand-fan for them (for not disturbing their sleep). Now the winter season starts there won’t be much problem with power. If I am in office then I have UPS for computer which long lasts but the inverter is not working so I can’t see anything in the room, so just sit idle or call some friends on phone.

Yes we too have power cuts often in our area, it is not a big issue to kill the time during day time, but after sunset it is really irritating. We go for a walk in the moonlight or just have a good gossip with all neighbors assembled in one place.

I usually talk with my family and sometimes listens to radio that runs on batteries during powercut. We have 30 minutes powercut in the morning and in the evening every day.

If I'm at home i read the newspapers or periodicals.I also spend the free time reading about stock market.I read interesting books.Luckily for us the power cuts are short max i hour so they don't effect us.

You can read if it is in the morning hours. But reading can be a problem if we have power cuts in the evenings. Thanks for your response.

Good that your tv runs on your inverter, i have emergency lights fitted in each room, they run from individual battery, so if not needed we switch off.. brown out is so boring, mosquito keep biting lol!! Thank you so much for this post. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . God bless you. Welcome always.
