Have you ever been to a mall with the kid and put the kid in the shopping cart? The carts here are built with a special folding arrangement for keeping kids in when unfolded. The kids can put their legs through the openings and sit facing the parents pushing the cart holding the samehandle that the parent holds to push the cart. I think its an excellent arrangement as it allowsyou to keep both hands free and also makes sure the kids are away from the racks holding various packages on display. You dont have to pull the kids away from the racks all the time in the fear of them pulling down the whole displayed arrangement. I have also seen parents get the kids involved by handing them the packages and allowing them to place it in the cart. This was the kids feel involved and do not pester the parents much, unless ofcourse when they reach the chocolate section. What are your experiences?

Oh!Yes.The same thing is in my city.Parents put their small kid in the shopping cart and go around the store picking up the various items that they need. The child sits comfortably in the cart and enjoys that.Everything goes normal like that but when they go through the chocolate and toys section the kid goes crazy and all the parents can do is to get some chocolate or toys for the kid.I really enjoy seeing all these in the shopping mall.

Hi poona_m, It happens here in Hong Kong, too. Many parents like to put their child sitting on the that particular folding of the cart. I do not know the design of the carts in India, but in Hong Kong it is not actually built there for children to sit on. It is extremely dangerous. The cart is high in Hong Kong. When a child sit on it, the other part of the cart must have to put some stuffs which should not be so light. If the adult is not holding the handle of the cart, it will fall at the side of the child due to unbalance of weight. My neice had her forehead and lips hurt and stayed in the hospital for a week. Now she got a scar on her forehead. So parents, pls be careful! agonyaunt69 (11:45am 24 Nov 2009 Hong Kong time)
