Are You Having Turkey Or Ham On Thanksgiving Day?

Normally every Thanksgiving, I have turkey, but this year, it just seemed blah to me, so I opted to make a Han instead. I know many people have both. When you have a large family to feed then it would be logical to have both, but this year it is just me and my 3 year old son so I just made a small ham. What are you having for Thanksgiving, turkey, ham, or both?

We had a turkey on Thanksgiving day. I went and bought 2 more turkeys to have them for a later time. But I tend to have a ham on Christmas day. Me and my family like to make big meals on the holidays. I try to catch the hams or turkeys on sale and stock up on them for bigger meals for my family.

We didn't have either one, we had a potluck dinner in which everybody brought whatever they wanted to eat, it turned out good, we had everything from mashed potatoes and gravy to enchiladas and taquitos to baked beans, to buffalo chili..lol. Not to mention alot of desserts, it turned out great. We were tired of having turkey and ham, I know we only eat turkey twice a year, but its good to have something different once in awhile.

In my family turkey is always the main ingredient of Thanksgiving. It just wouldn't be the same if our meat of choice was ham.

We celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving back in October, and went out for dinner to a restaurant that was serving a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We had turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberries, vegetables, a salad, stuffing, and then for dessert we had pumpkin pie and coffee. it was really wonderful.

Our Thanksgiving was in October. (Canadian colder climate), but today I am having ham. Of course, it will just be sliced, and I will have sliced fried potatoes along with it for my husband and fried sweet potatoes for myself. I do not know about vegetables though. I have some peas left, some carrots, onions, and celery and a little green beans. But i looked in the salad bin of my fridge and almost fainted. That lettuce does not last a week!

Well, my dad brought the turkey to my sister's house (my parents and I celebrated Thanksgiving at my sister and brother-in-law's home about three hours away), but my sister also made ham. She made ham and all the side dishes. For some reason meat of any kind didn't sound good to me today. So I was a "side eater" this afternoon. I had stuffing, green beans wrapped in bacon, biscuits, and of course dessert. I declined the mash potatoes (my sister likes hers lumpy, I don't), and didn't have any salad, but I managed to eat enough to make myself full! Oh, but I guess I did have a little bit of meat. My sister made sausage balls for an appetizer. And, she sent the rest of the sausage balls home with me! I have breakfast for tomorrow morning! Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful.

Hi there my dear friend. As i have said this once before in another topic, unfortunately we don't celebrate this holiday, so i won't be having no turkey or ham, but i wish we did celebrate it, or at least attend a celebration in the USA - i really am curious about how it is... it sounds wonderful from the descriptions i heard.

My family always does turkey on Thanksgiving day. My sister however usually does prime rib and Yorkshire pudding on big holidays. She just isn't that fond of turkey. Now, Christmas is when I cook a ham. along with some type of sausage. Christmas is also the only time i will usually make an alternative entree to go along with the ham, sometimes a chicken. There are a couple people in my family that don't like ham(I don't get it but, what can you do). Enjoy the day1
