I love christmas and have already done a heap of shopping, but we don't put our tree up until at least December 1st. We usually put it up on the weekend of our towns' Santa Claus parade. If we put it up too early the kids get too wound up and are bouncing off the walls until christmas. I also have a hard time getting in the mood to decorate until there is a little bit of snow on the ground.

Our house is pretty small and we have very few hiding places too. We only have 3 closets in our house and our basement is unfinished and I don;t want to put stuff down there as it could get ruined. I have quite a bit of my kids stuff hidden away at my parents house.

I've started shopping too! Running out of hiding places around the house.

my mantle is decorated with my Christmas village and a lighted Garland I also have my wreath hung on the door. We put our tree up on Thanksgiving day and we take the tree down before the first of the year. We believe it is bad luck to bring in the new year with the Christmas tree still up. That's our tradition anyway. My kids and I put together a gingerbread house the other day, it was a blast!

Ah, I forgot about gingerbread houses! They were so much fun as a kid, but the temptation to eat them was always overwhelming!

We never eat our Gingerbread houses, we build them and leave them for the season :) I LOVE making them and it's a great creative outlet for my children! I can't wait for shopping on black friday either!

You do? Wow that is early but nothing wrong with that. I usually tend to decorate after Thanksgiving day or a week after. I love being in the house or going out and coming back in to see all the decorations. I love putting on a movie, drinking hot chocolate, eating popcorn and turning on the Christmas lights.

Hi there! I don't put up the decorations etc until after my birthday which is early December, because when I was growing up, my birthday was always lost in the cloud of Christmas decorating, planning, and shopping, and I quite often receieved joint presents:( I leave them up for a while though, usually for most of January:)

My little brother was born on December 6th, and he was always getting combination Christmas/Birthday presents, which he was never to happy about.

I'm sad to be missing out on Thanksgiving this year. I used to decorate the house with fall colours. I'm big into holidays.

I usually dont put mine up until the first weekend of December. Then it doesn't come down till after the New Year. Apparently it's bad luck to take it down early..or at least according to the hubby..lol

We put up our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. I put my tree up one year before Thanksgiving and our house burnt Thanksgiving day. It may sound funny but to me it was a bad omen. Since then no Christmas decorations come out at my house until Thanksgiving is over. Also I like to get one holiday over before I start the next. It seems so many people forget about Thanksgiving anymore and jump straight to Christmas.

Mine will go up this weekend since we are away the entire week of Thanksgiving. I used to put it up Thanksgiving weekend but now we have to travel the entire week so I put it up right before we leave. I can't wait because I love this holiday season!

I refuse to put Christmas trees up before Thanksgiving, as that is the time of year my kids were born, and I love celebrating being thankful, for them and for all the other great things in my life. On the other hand I tend to leave my Christmas stuff up longer than most people I know. I like customs from different countries in my decorations. I saw a Christmas tree up in someone's house recently, when it was before Halloween.

I'm living in Ireland now, so since no one celebrates Thanksgiving, Christmas starts early. One shop here started selling its Christmas decorations about a week before Halloween!
