I would have a private, one on one talk with the good doctor and find out what the real problem was.If you ignore this problem, he won't think anything is wrong. Still having a problem after the talk? Arrange a meeting with you, the doctor and the hospital management. Get it all out in the open. After all, this makes the hospital look bad as well. People try to avoid drama but that is sometimes what brings resolution and learning.

When confronting such situation, I would avoid refuting in public against him too much and be generous. Because I think people always tend to take everything for granted and make mistakes especially when he is upset or in bad mood at that moment.

I think I would respond to the doctor and explain that there is no sense in making such action. For as long as I am doing things right and I am doing my job right, there is no reason for the doctor or anyone to do such thing to me. Well, I would of course respond in a professional manner and not make a scenario.

Hi. It would be a very hard situation because you could not humiliate your physician in front of a patient. Worst, you may not be heard or understood by the physician even if you try to explain your side. If I were in that situation, I would tell the physician that I'm going to re-check the matter and get back to him/her soonest. That way, we could avoid making a scene in front of our patients. I would have to make sure that I would really re-check the matter/situation and get back to the physician (in a private manner) at the soonest possible time. As a nurse, I may be at the losing end - but what choice do I have? At the end of the day, the physician will have the final words. So why humiliate yourself further by arguing in front of the patients?
