Who is your spiritual king and leader? Is it a man or is it God?

I been reading about the revivals that swept the country (USA) at the turn of the century starting with Charles Parham and on to William J. Seymour and the Azusa Street Revival. It was interesting to see how the spirit was moving in those days to break away from the traditional churches and people became actively involved without ever stepping foot into a church. I find it really intriguing that along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers it seemed to spread like wild fire without anyone ever having real control over it. Eventually things seemed to die down as pentecostal churches were formed and it seems to have taken on the same bureaucracy of every other church. Do you feel that its better to have a building to worship God in or do you feel its better to be just led by the spirit? I am reminded of Israel and how they cried out again and again for a king when God wanted to lead them directly so they eventually got what it was they wanted in Saul. Do you feel that a minister/rabbi or Pastor/priest directing things is better than just letting things be directed by testimonies, prayer and prophecies of the people in the church?

I personally have no leader....well I do but that leader is ME and only ME..I dont worship anyone or anything and in all honesty I feel that nobody should really..None of us is beneath anyone else, we are not less than ya know..BUT I'm aware that some ppl do in fact need that so whatever works for them. UNFORTUNATELY though, I've seen and its been proven time and time again over the centuries, that when ppl play follow the leader they end up quite often forgetting to think, speak and feel for themselves and thats IMO where issue and troubles start...

Well I am not saying that one shouldn't go to church at all but that they should keep in mind who ever is giving a sermon isn't God but just someone to help them along the way. It seems like lately too many people put their faith in a person because they were given a position of authority in an organized religion. I look at all the prophets in the bible all the way down to Jesus and they were always outside of the organized religion of that time.

All one ever needs is God and themselves. I have noticed that people do look for other people to find out about God rather than search for God themselves. Perhaps too many have been taught wrongly to fear God.

Thanks for the reply. Your statement reminds me of a saying I heard "all one needs is themselves and God to be in the majority". I think there is still purpose in having offices of the ministries but I think people tend to rely to much on what others tell them. It brings to mind a verse in the bible that says they searched the scriptures daily to see if these things were true. Too often lately it seems people put their faith in this person or that person and are let down because of the position they hold.

It is unquestionably the invisible and the invincible God in whom our spiritual thinking is rested upon.....

For me my spiritual King & Leader is God for as far as I can remember my Mom teach me everything about Jesus Christ, God the Father & Mother Mary. I am born catholic I am taught by all the doctrine, commandments, teachings about God so in our religion our spiritual Leader is God.

So you have never had a moment where you feel God was compelling you to do something that you wouldn't have done in your normal character? If you have would you please describe it.
