Tired of AT&T Wireless!

I am currently with AT&T as my cell phone service provider and have been for the past 5 or 6 years and am highly displeased with their service. Their prices keep going up and the network seems to get worse with each passing day. They look for any opportunity to add extra charges to my account every month to the point that my family plan costs me around $150/mo and my final bill ends up being close to $250/mo. When I call to find out what's going on, they give me the runaround once I finally get to talk to someone. I honestly don't think that they are going to be able to survive if they don't learn how to improve both their customer service and their network quality because of all their competitors who are doing great right now. I would be more than willing to pay a little more money each month for a quality product, but AT&T's network quality is horrible. My wife and I have been discussing changing to either Verizon or Sprint because of the better quality and pricing that they offer. What service provider do you have? Are you pleased with it?

Do they offer T-Mobile where you live? That's the service provider I have and I don't have any qualms with them. I'm on an individual plan, but I hear their family plans are actually reasonable. My only complaint is that I don't always get service in my basement, which is annoying, but I'll live. I've heard bad things about both Sprint and Verizon, which I should warn you about. Sprint, I hear, is much more expensive than T-Mobile and Verizon, but I also hear that despite Verizon Wireless' proud slogan, their service really isn't all that great - a friend of mine has CONSTANT problems with her phone blipping in and out.

As of right now, T-Mobile is not offered in my area, although I believe it will be in the next year or so with the way they are expanding. I have heard a lot of good things about them. From what I have heard from some of my friends and family, the Verizon service in the area is really good. The company I work uses Sprint Wireless and they have said that their service around here is pretty good too. We are still in the process of doing a little research and seeing which company would be better for us.

Ohhhh AT&T ... If only we could put them out of business like now. If all their customers would all of a sudden say guess what rotten service charges that don't belong etc. fix it or we don't pay. and not pay them a penny. maybe they would be forced to fix their issues. Yeah right Im fooling myself I know. We have had their service for 6months now and we hate it. Every single month I am calling to get the bill correct. We have data and internet blocked with unlimited text. We still get charged data. Data for what no one has down loaded ring tones games nothing. Their excuse now is its picture messaging . We have a family plan also and it should never be over $150.00 with service charges and taxes etc. Yet just like you we will get the bill for $220.00 to 250.00. I wish we weren't tied into a 2yr contract because they would be gone finished over. I'm not sure we can handle another 18 months with them. I use to have Verizon and when this nightmare is over the fiance has already been told back to verizon I go.

I believe they do care at least concerning the money. When I canceled the internet service they were begging for us to get a tech out. Even offered to give us a discount. They weren't happy that they couldnt keep us at least for that service. I told the young lady straight out that their mobile department was the worse and if we could cancel all services with them we would because the mobile dept. had put such a bad taste in our mouths.

I have officially changed my cell phone service provider from AT&T to Sprint and got a great deal! I am already pleased with what I am getting for such a low price, especially when compared to the horrible service I had with AT&T. And I got a new phone out of the whole deal which is always great. I have been using a Blackberry Pearl 8120 and love it, but I am upgrading to the Blackberry Tour 9630.

I really do wish that we could put them out of business quickly, but it looks like they're doing a pretty good job of putting themselves out of business the way they are treating their customers. It would be great if we could get a lot of AT&T customers to bad together to refuse to pay for their service anymore or to threaten to switch to another provider. I wonder if they would really care? I kind of doubt it.

If you don't need a lot of frills on your phone but just need one to talk on that works well with a good signal almost everywhere and gives you unlimited minutes for about $55.00 a month then go to Boost. They have simple phones like that and then they have phones that take pictures and video and have two way and all the new stuff but you can't beat their prices. Just stay away from T-Mobile because they cheated me real bad and I will never consider that company again no matter what deal they offered me.

I am with Verizon Wireless, and I have no problems with them at all. The only thing I don't like is the fact that all providers charge an exorbitant cancellation fee, and to me that isn't fair, becasue they make you beholden to them, so you can't cancel without paying an arm and a leg. I have been with only for a year and a half, and I do like the fact tehy do have nice phones, and I have never had it to where I got disconnected, whereas before when I had t-mobile, I couldn't talk inside buildings as I would have no slervice and get sisconnected. It isn't that way with Verizon. May, I suggess, you just chck each one out and see which one works bet for you. Take care, and ahppy mylotting.

I agree with you on the cancellation fees that are charged. It is unreal and almost impossible for someone to cancel their service, even when the service is horrible. And many of the companies know this and don't really make an effort to take care of their customers from a customer service standpoint, because they know we're not going anywhere without paying them a staggering fee. It's more about making money now than taking care of your customers (and this goes for almost all types of business now sadly)

Hi scottcoleson, I hate AT&T as well, TMobile is the best company I have ever dealt with as far as cell phone providers go. I currently don't have a cell phone because I'm out of work with his awful economy, however my last phone was a Sidekick iD through TMobile and I had no problems with the phone or the service. I did have prepaid though, I use to have a plan with them but it was too expensive. I stuck with the prepaid for the Sidekick since it was a $1.00 a day for unlimited Internet, Instant Messenger Systems and Text Messaging. I hardly talked on the phone because I hate talking on the phone so it was perfect for me, I only used the phone part when it was an emergency or I really had to speak with someone. I use to have AT&T but I disliked their phones, plans and customer service, everything about it was just awful. I believe every company is charging fairly high prices right now because of the economy, and even though cell phones are a priority a lot of people have them and consider them a necessity. All the things the different providers make you pay for is insane, as far as ring tones, applications, text messaging(Even the plans are outrageous if you ask me). I've even had issues where I signed up for something or a certain plan and they messed it up and my bill ended up higher but they wouldn't fix it, they blamed me, even though the customer is supposedly always right, haha that's a laugh!! This happened when I had TMobile so even though I didn't have problems with the company when I had prepaid, I did have issues when it came to having a contract plan. That is another way they get you is contract plans, their awful but it's just the way they work. I disliked Verizon when I had them, mainly their customer service but most of my friends and family have Verizon and seem to like it. As far as Sprint, I personally heard they stink but I've never had a phone through them, I never cared for the phones they carried or their plans I wish you luck and hope you find a provider you can be happy with.

Good to hear your looking into it, good luck! Sometimes have a cell phone is a huge pain in the butt!

You are right about that. Having a cell phone can sometimes be more trouble than it's worth, especially if you have an awful service provider who is charging such exorbitant rates for lousy service. I have been doing some more research and I am leaning towards getting Sprint because, from what I have heard, it is the best in my area and the most affordable.

I have also thought about doing the prepaid deal with someone because for a lot of the companies, you end up getting a better deal depending on your cell phone usage. I think it would also end up being much cheaper that way as well. I will definitely have to do a little more research into the whole thing to see how it works out.

I have boost mobile with unlimited text, call, and internet for $50 a month. There service isn't too bad except for the occasional late textd. I was thinking of getting att because I really want the iphone but i keep hearing bad things about their service so I guess maybe I'll double think it now.

I have read a lot about Boost Mobile and I love their service and everything, but they don't currently offer service in my local area, which really stinks! As far as wanting the iPhone, just hang in there because I have heard that Verizon has signed a contract with Apple to carry the iPhone as well, but I'm not sure when that will begin.

I can completely understand where you are coming from when you say that AT&T service and even customer service is not at all great. I've had them and I always had dropped calls and yes they always found something as well to charge on my phone. The two companies that I recommend if they are available in your area is T-Mobile I actually have a cell phone with them and I have had no problems at all and also I would recommend Verizon. I do think that they're plans are pricey, but they have really good service. My whole family but me has had that company and there is no qualms with them. I wouldn't recommend Sprint, the customer service is horrible and I don't think that the reception is all that well. I used to have them and had horrible service, as well as I worked for them.

At@T are nothing but rip-off artists. Their goal is to make money as is any other self-respecting compnay, but they claim to have the best service, so the demand remains high for them. Currently I have T-mobile, and it is ten times better and cheeper then the other major carriers. I have an unlimited talk plan for 90/month, for up to five lines all unlimited minutes no strings attached. My bill is 138/ month, and that's because I decided to to pay for texting seperattly because I only needed it on one line. I've got insurance (which I'm considering dropping) too, and if I do my bill should go down another ten bucks. But I have yet to do that. They do have unlimited plans that are not that expencive and they include text and web if needed. I hivghly recommend them.
