After the 8 round shutout last night with the Kings and Coyotes I started thinking what you guys thought about the shootout. Yes. It is exciting but I have to say that I prefer the 4 on 4. I want to see a battle right to the end? By the way, my boy Justin Williams had the winning shootout goal!! Go Justin!!!

I really didn't like the idea of the shootout when it started, but it has grown on me. While I too prefer the 4 on 4 it is exciting to watch the one on one contest between goalie and shooter. And I have probably gotten more sleep than I did before we went to shootouts. As long as it never becomes part of playoff season I can live with it. Interesting fact..Brenden Shanahan was a big part of why we go to the shootout, he pushed for it hard during the lockout. Good for Justin..will be so glad when we get our ason Williams back, he's great in shootouts too.

Shani did talk about how they got the shootout developed during the lockout, at the interview I heard yesterday.

Shani has alot of good ideas and he worked really hard during the lock out. I think he is going to be alot more than just a title in his new position.

It was funny on the interview, he said that because there are not a lot of people who were previously players in his current job, he said that one day he'll just start banging his stick in the middle of the table, and pull everybody else's shirt over their heads and pound at them, when they would get into disagreements.

Although the open ice created by the 4 on 4 is more exciting than the regular variety 5 on 5, I still like the shootout. It's like skill versus skill. Between the player and the goal tender. And there have been lots of exciting display of skills eversince it was instituted. Makes for good hockey. But, for playoffs, I still like it the way it is now. Not decided by a shootout, but a regular goal!

That's why I came around on the shoot out. It's fun to see the one on one concentrated effort between the two players.
