Mixed seedlines.

I'm just performing a little fishing experiment here. With all the different religions in the world and all the different branches of Christianity I would love to know who Cain's father is. I know it should be a simple answer but with all the illiteracy in the world today I just want to find out the real answer.

I believe Cains father was Adam. If you are wondering where the other seedlines come in its probably more confusing who Cain's wife was, and the other Children of Adam and Eve, Seth for example, who did they marry? It was said their were Giants in the land at the time and also the Nephilim. It is all there in the Bible but I too am interested in people's different interpretations.

Hi Puppynut. If you are interested in where Cain's wife came from, see the response above. Genesis chapter 6, to which you refer here, was about 1500 years later.

Actually this is also quite interesting because I have experienced it at almost all the churches I have attended. They do not follow the chronological events of the first chapter of Gen. or the first few verses of the second. On the sixth day God created men and women and he looked and it was good. On the seventh day which is 1000 years later he rested from his labors. After that 1000 years he looked and behold he had no man to tend the field so he created Adam and so on. There were many people on the earth at this time so I do not think they had any trouble choosing a mate. Adam and Eve were centered out for our benefit because it was through these two that the Christ child would be born. The giants were on the earth at this time to try and foul up the seed lines. Cain took two women to wife and if I remember correctly the first was named Adah and the second was Zillah. Zillah in the Hebrew means dark skinned and that makes perfect sense because when Cain traveled east of Eden he probably ended up somewhere in modern day Iran-Iraq and at this time it was inhabited by a dark skinned race of people. Until next time May God Bless.

I also find it interesting that the Hebrew word for mankind is Adam.

I'm not sure where your confusion is coming from. Its pretty simple in black and white. Adam is the dad of Cain.

oh and if you're curious about where Cain's chick came from, well I have a theory. Man was made in their image. God, and the angels I suppose. They are neither male or female, they are both. Originally adam was adam and eve. A self producing creature, that later was split off into two. Becoming male and female. So before eve came along adam probably pooped out a few rugrats.

I have never come across any controversy about this. Adam & Eve's first children were Cain and Abel. Adam was Cain's father and Eve was Cain's mother. Do you know of any other teaching?

PS It just occurred to me that you might be confused about relationships here, and your query is more along the lines of who was Cain's wife? That is simple to answer. It is clear from Scripture that Adam and Eve also had a number of daughters. At that stage, while there was purity of stock, there was nothing to stop inter-breeding. (This is still used extensively in animal breeding today). Cain married his sister. Many years later, once the purity was diminished, laws against incest were introduced.

If you're talking about Cain the brother of Abel, the one who killed his brother over an ill-received sacrifice, his father is Adam. You can find his story in Genesis chapter 4. As far as I know the story is the same in every translation of the Bible and Cain's father is the same in every translation. I don't have any idea why a different branch of Christianity would claim otherwise.

If you look way back in the first book of the Bible--Genesis--you'll see that Cain's father was Adam. Adam and Eve had Cain and Able first, then Able was killed by Cain, who was then doomed to be a vagrant for the rest of his life, and then Eve gave birth to Seth. I hope I wasn't too confusing with my answer.
