An 'A-' or a 'B+'?

I know an A- is better than a B+. But for me, B+ 'looks' better. I like the 'A' but I don't like the minus after it as it takes away the shine from the A. I like the 'B' and I especially like the +, so B+ it is for me. If it was a B- and an A-, of course I'd go for A-, but there's something about the plus and minus in it that sways it for me. So what about you? Which one would you pick: A- or B+?

Wow I have never really looked at it with an analytical mind but I have always felt like there was something wrong with an A- as opposed to a B+ .Mind you I would prefer an A- but it always seem like it was not quite good enough

Yeah, logically, I'd want an A- too. But, I hear ya, there's something about an A- that'd get me all floppy eared.

It is just appearance sake that makes you prefer the positive symbol over the negative. What an A- means is that your grade was between 94% and 90% correct a B+ means that you got between 85% and 89% correct. The percentage is what really matters in the end for your finanl grade since it is a combination of multiple assignments and projects. So I by far would prefer the a- to a b+ but for me substance has always been far more attractive to me in every way.

Hi sharone, Yes, I agree, it's the appearance of a negative that makes me deem it that way. In the real world where it involved test/exam results, of course I'd pick an A- over a B+ any day. Thanks for contributing towards the discussion. Have a FAB 2010.

I'd probably pick the B+ too, I think its because we associate the minus as being negative, so therefore when you see it, it doesn't look right.

Yeah, I agree. It's not the minus's fault, I guess. It's the way it's perceived.

I would have to pick the A-, but I completely understand what you're saying about the + and -. For me though, the A seems so much better than the B that it outweighs the negative feeling I would have for the -.

The A- is better, I know; but if I got an A-, I'd be thinking I almost got there and I'd find it more frustrating than getting a B+.

I would pick an A- although I do agree with what you have stated about the + and - its doesnt look very good!
