Okay this is something I have always wondered, do you always tag your discussions? And if you do why or why not? Do you think that if you don't tag them it will result in lower earnings?

I have that same fear that I will get lower earnings if I don't tag my discussions. I don't see anything in the fine print that indicates that it helps or hinders but you never know. Good question. I hope someone with more experience can answer it fully.

Thank you so much for responding to my discussion. I hope someone else will know also, to help both of us.

I can't say for sure, but I do not think that tagging discussions is directly related to your earnings. However, if you properly tag discussions, then it can help to generate more interest in your discussion by making more people aware of your discussion, because your discussion will show when they search on the proper tags. This in itself will not make you earn more, but it will give you more opportunity to respond to a topic that interests you, which will help you to earn more if you respond to all the comments.

Tagging your discussions allows people to search on specific key words and return discussions that are tagged with those key words. It helps in several ways, if it is done properly. First, when you start a discussion, you should search to find out whether or not the same or a similar discussion has already been done. You do this by using the search bar and entering a term, which would generally be used when tagging a specific discussion, to find other discussions with the same tag. Then, you can look through them and either respond to the discussion if one already exists or determine that your the one that you want to do is probably an original discussion. Second, when somebody wants to find topics that they are interested in, they can search on the key words, and the tags will help them to find discussions they are interested in. If you properly tag your discussions, then this could draw more attention and interest to your discussions. Third, on the right-hand side of each discussion, there is a column labeled "similar discussions". This is generated using tags on existing discussions and allows users to easily find other discussions related to the topic that they responding to, which could also draw more attention and interest to your discussions.

That makes sense. I have been trying to make a more conscience effort to bring more traffic to my discussions this way. I have not used the tags to check the other discussions so often except when I wanted to find everything on the series show, True Blood. Then I used the tags. I think that I will try that way a bit more to keep the discussions that I pull up interesting. Thanks for responding!!
