My dad likes pocket-knives and watches, so I will usually get him a new knife or watch. I am probably going to get him a thermos this year for his birthday, though, so that he can take some coffee to work with him. I have a really good thermos that I use to take coffee to work with me, and I think he would like to have one, so I think that would make a good gift for him. He also collects certain types of figurines and statues to put on his shelves and stuff at home, so I sometimes get him something like that when I need a gift idea for him. I don't know what your dad likes, so it is kind-of hard for me to suggest gifts for him, but I am sure he will like pretty much anything you get for him. From a guy's perspective though, there are a couple of things that a man can never really have too many of, or at least there are a couple of things that I, myself, can never have too many of... One thing that is always a good gift idea for a guy is a flashlight, and if you can find a pack with several different sizes of flashlights, that is even better. Mag-Lite makes a pretty high quality line of flashlights, and they have several different sizes. This time of year, if you go to wal-mart, Lowe's, The Home Depot, or any similar store, you can usually find a gift pack of Mag-lites for a reasonable price. Some of those gift sets come with batteries as well. Mag-lites are a little more expensive than some of the other flashlights you may find on the shelves, but they are well-worth the price, and will last for many years if cared for properly. My dad has a mag-lite that is probably close to 20 years old, and he still uses it all the time, so that should give you an idea of how durable they are. Tools are another good gift idea for guys, especially screw-drivers, hammers, pliers, or similar hand-tools. I probably have four tool-boxes full of tools that I have accumulated over the years. I will advise you to buy high quality tools for him if you choose to get him something of this nature. When it comes to tools, whether you are buying power tools or simple hand-tools, you generally get what you pay for. I usually by Craftsman, Stanley, or Kobalt brands of hand tools. These are brands offer good quality and a price that most people can afford to pay. They usually come with a pretty good warranty as well. Craftsman hand tools come with a lifetime warranty on them, and the other brands listed come with at least some type of warranty. Hopefully these ideas will help you out. When all else fails, just get him his favorite cologne or after-shave. You know he will use those eventually LOL
