We felt it just now. I heard that's cause taiwan was experiencing an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale ,Quanzhou and Xiamen shaked strongly. This is my first time experience it,so my mind went completely blank. We rushed out of the dormitory and lots of students got together on the ground.I called few of my friends to tell them what's happening, but I didn't tell my parents , not wanting them worrying about me.I guess the people in Taiwan must be living a damn night.GOOD LUCK!!!

But NYC buildings are earthquake-resistant right? Or else there are a lot of them to collapse once it gets hit by a strong one (God Forbid). Those names she mentioned are places.

That's so lucky! We also have learned some basic skills to protect ourself from earthquake, but when it really occured,it seems that there is a vacant look on our face,we just try to leave the building.

YEs I have quite a number of times. I feel scared too of eartyhquakes especially when I feel short tremors when I am sleeping at night. Earthquakes are really disastrous and one should be careful. There are so many cases when so many lives have been taken away by this earthquake.

Hi there, Oh, that must have been Bad, sorry to hear that.... Well, up until now I have not but I think it is bad, bad, bad :( It is what happens after it as many governments "say" they help people get back on their feet again when they don't really help much at all... Some might do

yes, we often expereince earthquakes in Pakistan.. But the one we had been through on October 8, 2005 was the deadliest one so far..Thousands of people lost their lives, homes and properties...hundreds of villages towns vanished from the face of this earth..and even a big city got almost destroyed..I even lost a friend of mine and many aqcuaintances in that earthquake..Those were the days of real despair for our country..n it actually took a long long while to restore the things as they used to be before that earthquake..

Yes, I did experienced an earthquake in an almost 8.0 intensity. It was very frightening to experience and see how objects around you are shaking. You feel like you are in a small box then being shaken by a giant person. That gave me a reality that no one can stop calamity when it comes to nature. People have to find a suitable place to be safe and must be aware of the safety precautions and if ever take some earthquake drill seminars for enough knowledge and awareness.

Yes, I have. It was really frightening. It happened when I was still studying in college. I was in the 5th floor of the building when the earthquake strike. I could see the chairs moving and hear people shouting. Luckily, it did not create any damage. But it was really horrifying.

hi there sophia, you live in a dormitory, we live in a hostel, the difference is that we have separate individual rooms of each of us students, wow pretty much experience you must have had that time! .. well i live in south east India and there was an earth of size measuring upto 5 on the Richter scale and that took place in the Andaman and Nicobar islands and we could feel the quake here but so unfortunate me, i was deep asleep, my friend could experience it and it was quite a weird experience as they say, it was like everything was slowly swinging coz it was very mild when it reached here, one of my friends was watching a horror movie on his laptop with his room lights off and suddenly he could feel everything moving and a weird sensation of things swinging.. and he was scared out of his pants!!.... well i hope everything was alright there with you sophia, earthquake experiences are not fun always, i had a funny experience that is a different thing but we need to take care.. have a nice day

The thought of an earthquake is indeed very scary. I've read that countries in the east and also most of the south east Asian countries are prone to earthquakes. I never experienced it yet and i don't want to either. People in Taiwan are surely living a damn night. It's good that you didn't tell your parents. Tell them once you are back home so they wouldn't worry much about your safety.

I have only experienced a small one. That's pretty lucky, considering that I live in Japan, where earthquakes happen pretty often. I hope I can be a long time without having to feel any earthquake, as I'm scared of not knowing what to do in that moment.

I live in England so earthquakes are very rare where i live. However, i remember there being 2 minor earthquakes that we felt. The first one woke me up and was just like :o.....what the hell is that? because as i said, earthquakes are rare so i would never had expected it or known what the heck it was :P And the second one i slept right through :) as i said, they were only minor ones. Although when i got to school there were of course stories of people falling out of bed and stuff like that. who knows if it's true :P

Yes, I have experienced an earthquake before. It was only a minor quake but I panicked and rushed down the lobby of our building. You see, we live at the 5th floor of our building. I felt the ground shook and the lights immediately went out. That's why I panicked. Up until now, I'm still a bit paranoid when it comes to earthquakes.

I have experienced earthquakes before. and it scared me like hell!. I was freaking out just because people are freaking out too. Some girls just yell like there's no tomorrow. I just understand why they did so. We were on the fifth floor of our building that time. Good thing that quake didnt get stronger.

hi sophia10 yes as I live in California I have experienced tremors to four and fives, thankfully not 6 or 7's . You get so anything less than a five you just don't get too upset as its a fact of life. live in Ca you will feel tremors most every day. so we do not get very upset unless it is a real shocker. Rushing outside is not always a good idea unless you get far enough from the buildings as otherwise in a hard shake things could come lose and knock you down or even worse.

We also experience quite a lot of earthquakes in the Philippines since we are part of the ring of fire. I haven't really experienced a strong one though. The recent one was while I was lying on my bed so I got confused if it was real. Thank God most if not all of the earthquakes I had experienced while I was at home or else I would be panicking. Take care!

Yesss... I feel 2 times this year for exactly! about 7-8 times of earthquakes was happened in my country this year. The biggest one was 7.8 on the Richter scale and another city and was destroyed everything in that city. And the latest was 4.2 on the Richter scale in my island. And I can feel it in my city. 2 times in 3 weeks. Nothing was damaged in my city, just people screaming with panic attack try to get out from the buildings. And Thank God we're all fine.

I used to live right off the coast of Japan, so me and my family experienced quite a few earth quakes. None too big on the Richter scale though thank god, I think the biggest one we got was about 6.7. I think the worse damage we ever had happen from them was our bookshelf falling over and our trampoline getting flipped. The scarier part was what followed the earthquakes, which is tsunami warnings. We would have to get all of our belongs, family members, and pets and get in our vehicles and drive to the highest mountain we could get to. We never experienced any actual tsunamis though, just really big tidal waves.

I used to love right off the coast of Japan, so I experienced tons of earth quakes. It was scary, none of them got too big on the Richter scale though thank god. I think the worst one I remember was in the middle of the day, and the most damage that happened was our bookshelf fell down, and our trampoline got flipped over. The scarier thing about the earthquakes were the tsunami warnings that came after, we would have to get all of our stuff we didn't want to get wrecked, all of our family members and pets together, get in our vehicles and drive to the highest mountain we could reach. It was pretty scary, we never experienced and real tsunamis, just really big tidal waves.
