My cat is confused with its gender... (i think)

I found this cat in our backyard when it was little and i couldn't resist its cuteness. to make it short i adopted him. he's about 1&1/2 yrs old now and i expect him to be courting other female cats like what "normal" male cats will probably do at this age.one day i was happy to see one cute cat in our backyard playing with my pet. this cat was licking my cat's ears and playing with himw hich appears to be a grooming process. from that time on they became inseparable.. now i'm worried LOL (just a little). other cats would sometimes come to our frontyard but he ignores them..is this normal?

yea,it's normal.cats who become close often groom each other.
sometimes it's showing submission to the older cat.
some male cats mature later also,at 1 and 1/2 he may just not be interested in girls yet.i had one male who never liked female cats.he just wasn't interested.
he lived with 3 other boys and 1 girl at the time,and was perfectly content to sit by himself most of the day.

septemberstar76 hi maybe he is a homosexual kitty,i guess they have them at times of course he might have been spayed to which would make him act like that. anyway sounds like you have two cute c ats so thats nice. Happy New Year september
