Why Can't Women Go To The Restroom Alone?

Venezuela

I have lots of girl-friends and we often hang out together with my other guy-friends. The thing that really bothers me is that every time they have to go to the restroom they have to be in pairs. Why is that? Is it boring in women's restroom that you need to bring someone to keep you company? Is it scary in there that you're afraid to go in alone? Do other women in there gang up on you so you need to bring some back up?

maybe a safety measure, or going before a meal and banter, to preen up a little while the other yacks away about her date, but i think the safety measure was installed by the moms when growing up and it just makes sense

I agree with the safety thing. Women are protective creatures anyway, and if a guy suspects a public place, I wouldn't put it over a guy to go with a woman and wait outside the restroom for her.

Girls always want to hang up in restroom and talk about gossips. When I was still studying me and my classmates always go the restroom in pairs because we are afraid to be alone in the restroom because we might see a ghost or something.

I definately would want to go alone to the restroom. I think when they go in pairs its only because they need to say something to each other that they dont want others to listen. or else I can make no sense of it.

Whenever girls go to the bathroom, the reason is not because they can't go to the bathroom alone. It's an excuse for girls to bond together, to look at each other's make-up, to chat, to giggle. You may find it silly but it's just one of those quirky things about women. :-)

What an interesting discussion.haha. I guess some women are really comfortable if they have someone in the restroom with them because they get to gossip, talk about stuff that they don't like or maybe they are just a little scared that someone might have evil plans for her while she's in the restroom. It's always safe to bring a back up.I admit that I am the type of girl who does not want to go in a restroom alone. lol

Well the reason why men don't go to the restroom together is because men are less likely to get attacked in a public restroom. Women go together because public toilets are not always safe and most of the time we just want some privacy. There are times when we need to ask our girlfriends for a tampon. I am not going to ask for a tampon in front of the guys. Really, no big deal. It's just something we have been doing for ages.

As a person who survived and attack in the restroom, all I can say that I will never ever use public restroom alone....yes, I do go to the restroom with girlfriends only... If no girls are with me I may order male friend to stay by the door and wait for me...

This discussion caught my eye because it's funny. I'm not going to rib you for it - I'm a woman, and I both understand it yet not. Oftentimes women in groups have to go at the same time. I know you'll probably say it's just an excuse but more than likely it's actually true. Secondly - women, especially ones who are close friends are protective of each other to a point. Trust me, I have friends I would rather follow in a public place than worry about what I'll hear the next day if they disappear from the establishment. Women like to chat too, perhaps the evening is going badly, or perhaps it's going well. Maybe one of them had a fight with her significant other or there's one in the group who spied a hot guy and want another woman's opinion. The reasons are endless. Sometimes I have gone with someone - if I need to go. Other times I go alone. I don't really have a pattern or a reason. I've had people get up and go with me or ask if they can come more often than I ever tag along. I guess I should ask - do guys EVER consider asking a buddy to go with them? Is that strictly a female thing?

LOL. Love your funny discussion. As a female, I often wonder why they go in there together. Most of the time I think it is to talk about whoever they are with. When this happens, of course all the females are going just to make sure it is not about them. LOL I never understood it because the bathrooms are always so full it is standing room only and if anyone actually needs to use the restroom they can't.

I go to the restroom alone most of tghe time. Sometimes I will go with a friend because we may have things to discuss or just because I have to go at the sametime as someone else.

Because that's our time to gossip! Bathroom trips are just code for lets go in the bathroom and dish about everything. Also you may not have the proper make up to touch up with, and your girlfriend may, so they come in handy there too. Nobody wants to go to the bathroom alone, it's no fun that way!

Actually we can, we just want some company going to the restroom for some girl talk. Or share some make-up. Or sometimes during those monthly periods, in case we'll need assistance if one of us made an accident and have a stain or something. Totally girl talk, I know but it happens (and you probably haven't thought of that.) And I think some men like it when their dates go in the restroom in groups so you guys can have your guy chat.

I like going in pairs, just for the company. It is like one on one girl chat. Same is if we go to a fast food place or something and I want to go up and buy another apple pie, I will have someone go with me. I am not afraid, I just like having a friend with me when I am hanging out with them.

If women excuse themselves and go to the bathroom together, it's usually because they need to do a little "girl chat". Also, if I'm unfamiliar with the place, it's comforting to have another to guide the way to the bathroom. One last reason, is safety. In today's society, there are weirdos around every corner and there is an old saying "safety in numbers". Those are the three main reasons I can think of.

Honestly, it boggles my mind too sometimes, but I go to the bathroom by myself all the time, even when I was with my friends. There are 2 things that as a female I can think of. 1-they actually have to go when someone else mentions it and they feel weird standing out alone to do it. 2-if they go in a group, you know they want to discuss something.

Hi Nocturn, Although I am fine being alone in going to restrooms, sometimes I find myself with a friend. It should be because that friend also wants to use the restroom. Otherwise, I can go alone without anyone's company. I think other girls do this to have their own little time for girls' talk. When hanging out with guy friends, I am sure there are lots of things that they can discuss comfortably when being alone with women than with the guys. Most girls talk about boys and vice versa. One more thing, girls when in the restroom like to retouch their make-ups, comb their hair, etc. I always observe some girls borrow toiletries or make-ups from one another.

Lone lady eating - Eating alone in restaurants for a lady is awkward but there is no other go
Why only rest rooms women always prefer company, wherever they want to go and this has been a hurdle of sorts to get on in life as if one does not find a companion there is the tendency to put off chores. More and more women are left alone these days to fend for themselves and the worst thing is when one wants to eat in a restaurant. Here it is awkward for a woman to sit alone and eat but I have done it as I had no other alternative but to remain hungry if I did not go But sadly sooner or later women will learn to handle things alone.

They always come in group because by going to the rest room. They tend to talk about things around them especially the male guys. It is a girl- talk that is why it is private for them in that area they can talk more without being conscious because the guys they are talking about are not there. They feel free to express their views and chatting more in girls way. The guys will think they just needed to go to bathroom but aside from that, these girls have talked of some things private for them only.
