ATX - Motherboards / myLot

What is meant by ATX.. Somehow i got that, it refers to motherboard technology.. What it actually means.. I think only intel and asus making motherboards so far..

I think it is the form factor of the mother board and ATX means advanced technology with extension.

It's just a type of motherboards which was introduced by intel in 1995 and was smaller than previous motherboards. It's not really a technology and it's already pretty old. Their newest standard is BTX.
