Is all these new article writing jobs legit?

Article writing seems to be what's hot these days for online earnings. There are new sites popping up every day hiring writers and most of these writing jobs are from India. Today I got a pm from someone from India offering me writing work at $2 for 500 word article. I have several of these offers but for $1 per 500 word article. I have also seem some of these writing job offers on legit freelance sites offering a shameful .01-.05 cent per 500 word article. But, for all these writing jobs coming out of India are to numerous for all of them to be legit job offers. I read recently that most websites were out sourcing their article jobs to India where they pay them anywhere from $6-9 an article. In the United States it would cost the website $25 and up for the same work. The job offers are very tempting but I'm a little wary of doing all that work only to get scammed.

Do you mind if you post more specifics on where the article writing jobs are coming from? I would comment on whether they are legit, but with no idea of exactly where they are coming from, the best I would manage are generalisations.

Yes, that's exactly what I was asking for. Knowing that they're from India doesn't really say anything, except that well, they're from India. :P I have come across perfectly good legitimate sites based in India hiring writers. I also know of sites in India which are not exactly what I would call a "legit site". Apparently, different parts of India also have different laws, enough so that they might as well be different countries, but to be honest, I know little enough of this to know how much truth is in that statement, or just a case of "my part of the world is better than your part of the world" on a smaller scale. Looked at the sites you mentioned, and I'm assuming that the other sites you are running into are more or less similar to them. From what I can see of them, I would say it's best to stay away from them. I keep hoping, but I have yet to come across a site that claims to check your articles for grammar but can't even manage a decent job on their own site that hasn't turned out to be a scam.

If they pay from $6-9 an article, maybe someone in India wants to buy them (from us) for a lower price, then sell them back to the web sites who are outsourcing? Silly roundabout way, since so many Americans are willing to work for pennies online, but I guess it could work. I'm really wary of those offers, too.

with all the writing jobs being outsource to India and other developing nations we Americans have no way of making a decent living off our writing efforts. No one want to work for pennies on the dollar. It's to much work researching a topic and putting an article together for the search egngine only to receive less than a buck for your efferts. thanks for the reply.

If you're looking for a continuous stream of residual income then you must try Bukisa. Bukisa pays per impression meaning per one thousand views your article received you'll be paid around 4 dollars. It has a minimum word per article of 250. You can probably write a 250 word article more or less in 30 minutes. They also has a referral system where you earn 10 percent of your referral's earnings. If you're interested there's a Bukisa banner in my profile page. Thanks,

I know about bukisa but you must get a lot of page views in order to make some money. These kind of sites are good for building your writing resume. Writing for website owners is more profitable.
