The news has just said that Simon Cowell will be leaving American Idol at the end of this Season. I truly believe this will be the end of American Idol, unfortunately. Simon Cowell is the most honest judge on that show. Yes he can be cruel at times but I think that is why people like him. What are your thoughts on this, if any.

I had no idea Simon was leaving the show! You're right that he is an imporant part of the show. I really hope they don't end the show, maybe they can find someone else has 'likeably' honest and cruel as Simon lol

It won't be the same with someone else. It has to be Simon or no show to me. We shall see what happens. Thanks for responding.

I heard this at least a month ago. The show could do without Paula as a judge, but without Simon? Will be interesting to see. I agreed with him more often than the other judges, although I did think some of his comments were a bit harsh.

Yes I did too but it just came on the news as verification that its the truth. I don't give the show not even another season without him. That will be the end of the show I believe. Yes he could be very harsh but I guess that is the English way. Thanks for responding.

The show's so big, maybe it will still go on. Probably depends on how well Ellen does as a judge, etc.

Well Lelin I saw it on the News that he is leaving there as a Judge, but he has the XFactor here in the UK which is similar to Americans Talents so you never know it might run in the US soon to

I agree I just can't see that show without him. I hardly ever watch but he is the main source of entertainment for most of the season, it isn't til the end when the true talent shows up.

Although Simon can be nasty and mean if you get the OK from him you have to be good and that should make anyone that goes on there proud.....I think it is going to be like losing OPRAH during the day..... what is it with these people announcing there resignations a year before happening ...... what are they trying to achieve by doing this?

Maybe they just want to enjoy their lives before the world ends in 2012. I'm only kidding. Simon is going to have a new show I just heard called X Factor which I believe he has in England already. As for Oprah she will have her own Cable channel called "OWN" I believe. They are going on to bigger and better things I guess. I'm pretty sure AI will be over after this year because no one can replace Simon. As for Oprah I will miss her alot.

I think it has to do with the X Factor show that he is bringing to the US and maybe Paula will be joining him on this show. Thats the word out there at this time.

I heard he may be working again with Paula on a new project but I did not get the name because I was in between studying and other things

I'm sorry to see Simon leave. I imagine he'll be replaced with someone else who can be brutally honest. I also think it was inevitable for him to leave as he seems to be wanting to take the next step in his career by getting his own show.

I knew a lot of people who didn't like him. This might be a welcome relief for them. I had a dream of always wanting to be a singer when I grew up. However, there wasn't any such thing as American Idol when I was younger and I'm too old for it now. The singing career never did materialize. I've often thought that I would probably dread Simon if I were to be on there. Somebody told me not too long ago that he might like my singing, as he likes more formal singing, if that makes sense. I don't remember what the word was that the person used who said this but I never have considered myself a formal singer, lol. I sing a lot of country music, in other words. I guess you would classify me a formal singer when I'm singing religous or Messiah music, though. He might like it but then he might not. You never know. Kathy.

Yes, I've just heard the news too. It saddens me, IA will definitely not be the same again. Simon Cowell is one of the best judges the show has, I wonder if they'll ever find another one like him. But I'm an avid fan of the show and Ryan Seacrest is still there, so I'll continue watching. I'm already excited to watch this season's first episode.

I don't think the show could survive without Simon Cowell in it. I really like how he is brutally honest with the contestants trying out for the show. He is my favorite judge on the show. I don't think I will be watching it without Simon. =(
