Do you take vision breaks?

There is this cool programme on my computer that helps remind one to take vision breaks. you can activate it by double clicking on it, and every 30 or 40 minutes (you can set the duration, the max being 40 mins) it will pop up on your screen and play a little melody to remind you to look away from your computer and take a vision break. It's good for your eyes! whilst mylotting or working, don't forget to give your precious eyes a vision break! happy surfing and mylotting (and working, if that's possible!).

That is a good idea and many people could benefit from it :) I do forget sometimes to take a break when at work, but most days my eyes tell me to take a break because they water or get dry, or something like that. So I try to get up and take walks throughout the day, not only for my eyes but also for my circulation. I wish that I could have less time on the computer at work but everything I do is on here. Some days I just have to do some filing or desk cleaning for a little bit to give my eyes (and my brain) a rest from starring at this machine all day. Thanks for the reminder, I think I'll go get some water and take a vision break now :)

Thanks for the best response :) I try to walk around at work - like every time I print something I get up to get it right away to take advantage of the walk :) But since we don't have a lot of good excuses for walking I feel like I'm going to the bathroom 10 times a day just for a walk... I hope no one thinks I have a problem :-D

Is there such a programme?? It sounds good and cool though!! haha I will always take a break from my com after every hour or so.. hehe ^_^ I will stand up, walk around, get some drinks, or food.. After which, back to work on my com again.. haha =D It's important to be taking a vision break, because it allows our eyes to relax as well as not spoiling our eyesight due to long exposure from the bright screen.. hehe

Not a bad idea. I have been having problems with my vision of late after working on the computer all day.

Hey, squaretile, thanks for sharing the idea, maybe you can give as exactly the name of the program, I think it's worth a try and it's a must, because staying infront of the computer sometimes makes as forget that time is passing so quickly that we forget to take a break specially for our eyes, TIA.

That's good! everybody needs that. I know for sure many mylotters are computer addicts, not just to surf but to earn as well. Thanks for the idea, I'll go get something like that to ease the tiredness of my eyes since I've been in front of the screen for hours everyday.

That's a great idea. I must do a search to see if I can find a similar programme for my computer. My monitor plays havoc with my eyes. I should really take more vision breaks but when I'm in the middle of something, I find it difficult to leave it. Then when I eventually have to leave it, I have blurred vision. Not good if I need to go out driving. Thanks for the tip.

this reminds me to take a break first. i think im alreay in the computer for 1.5 hours. in the office, although my work is mostly computer related, i always get of the computer because every few minutes someone will call on the phone, an officemate will ask something work related and others.

I am more wary of any attaching spyware or virus. Having said that, it is not a bad idea, I feel. The issue I would think is that after viewing the little screen and listening to the melody call, many would return back to the screen... unless the screen blanks off with only a arrow pointing to the left, right, up or down. I am sure many will follow the arrow which is an eye-breaker from the screen... Or it has other visual acts which exercise the eye muscles. What a great idea!

I think this is a great idea. I know sometimes I am online way too much and should give my eyes a break. I thank you for sharing this and it is a great reminder to know we need to take a break from the internet every once in awhile. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

That's really cool squaretile. Would you send the programme to me. However, I should mention here, that I myself deliberately do get away from my laptop every hour or so. Yes, of course, there are times, when I am so involved that even for 2-3 hours continuously, I am constantly punching at the keyboard. This programme at those moments would help me.

vision breaks are very important for people spending long hours infront of computers..vision breaks not only prevent harm to eyes but also help in relaxation. ideally, you should get a break from your computer every 30 mins, go out and have a stroll and come back again..also if required wash your eyes look everywhere, strech a little and get back to work..that will make you feel relaxed and ready for work again :)

yes i do take regular vision breaks per 1 hour when i sit infront of a computer. my eye strains and becomes red if i dont do so. also my back pains if i dont take vision breaks. so vision breaks are a absolute must have for keeping your good vision intact
