Introduce yourself in internet,have you done this before?

I joined here half a month ago.When I seach the discussions ,I find something confused me. Many new comers here like to introduce themselves .And some of them even give some of the details about themselves.I don't mean here is unsafe,but I just feel it's not so necessary to make your information in the internet.If you want to make friends here, you can add them first then introduce yourself.Have you ever introduced yourself in the internet? What's your opinion on this discussin?

An intro in this virtual world would be a problem for girls i guess coz if they share their orginal pics they might get some stalkers who keep on harassing or irritating in your discussions.coming to me i wouldnt mine sharing my information.And if you get to make good friends then in here you share your information with them but you would never knew who is in disguise coz profile pics can be deceptive.so you gotto choosy while coming to friends online and mylot would be an exception for sure coz i have made soem good friends i enjoying being with them.great day.

I have introduced myself on social websites a couple of times. Usually I say where I'm from and ca how old I am, then maybe what I do but not more. Later I might give out some more information on the website or in personal messages. Sometimes, some information about your background might clearify your stand in an argument.

Hi,Torunn.I always tell where I'm from and how old I am,but I generally do not say my real name and address unless in personal messages.I think if I make friends with someone,some details can show a sincere,but just for friends.

I agree, I usually don't tell my adress etc unless someone comes to visit or someone wants to send me something, and then only in personal messages. I prefer knowing a bit about the other person and that they know a bit about me before we start telling last names, where we live etc.

Mylot is the closest I have come to joining a social network and even here I am very careful about my personal information. Discussions here can be read by anyone on the Internet if they enter the right search in a search engine. I have had discussions come up when I was doing a search on an only partially related subject and could read the mylot discussion and all of the responses. So even here one should be very careful what kind of information they give out just like anywhere else on the Internet.

Yes,stealthy.I think what you said is quite right.Because the internet can public our intormation to everyone, we shouid be very careful especially on some important information,otherwise,it will bring troubles to us.
