hey all as a life long supporter and I also love football and watch a lot of games that are not connected to LFC. Has rafa taken Liverpool as far as he can, sitting in mid-table, and out of all the major cups after being beaten by reading recently. Also with Aquilani finally playing but giving the ball away loads againist reading. Do you think that rafa time is up, irrespective of whether liverpool can afford to sack him do you think he should be there still. I have my views but lets see what other mylotters think.

I'm intrigued! How come you support Liverpool and not Toon? Well, seeing as you ask, I do think Raffi is living on borrowed time. Liverpool fans are known for their patience and a lot of clubs would've got rid of him ages ago. Personally, I am not a big fan of blaming managers as most have injuries and the like to contend with. Mark Hughes's departure (as an example) was appallingly handled and a disgrace to the game. What will be interesting is to see what Gerrard and Torres do at the end of the season (if Raffi stays). Will they toddle off to somewhere like Real Madrid (I can see Gerrard in particular doing well there) or will they carry on regardless plodding on and not getting anywhere, regardless of any managerial changes. The worsed thing Liverpool did was let the likes of Alonso go. I know he wanted to go but they are definitely missing him. He could score goals when other team members weren't and got them out of a few scrapes down the years. I hope their fortunes turn around though because - out of the so-called "Big Four" - Liverpool are my favourites and deserve better fortune than what they are experiencing at present...AND another ground lol! By the way, Aquilani is rubbish and I can't see why clubs in the Premiership and elsewhere have this obsession with foreign players. Carlisle are in the lower leagues and depend on the Brits. I should imagine Reading had their fair share of Brits too in the team and they AND ONLY will realise what it's like to lift an FA Cup trophy. I would love a team like Reading to win it, actually...just for a change!

I used to live in liverpool and discovered football so was a natural progression. Then moved to workington but still keep my childhood roots per say. I personally think this is going to be the straw that breaks the camels back so to speak, even rafa came to the interview on sky sports with a written script I wish he would stop making excuses and tell the truth we have bought average players and are lucky to be sitting in mid-table. We bought people like keane and let him go, we have 2 owners that fight behind the scenes and everybody knows what happens behind the scene at LFC which has never ever been the case. Also Aquilani I hope I am wrong but from what I have seen of him, he gives the ball away far too much to compare him to Alonso is just madness I hope I am wrong but yet another average over priced player. We have one of the best goalkeepers in the world in reina, a world class defender in carragher and johnson a world class striker in torres (when he is fit) and steven gerrard and that is what we rely on. I would love liverpool to go back to what they were in the 80's promoting back the back room staff, club affairs staying private and more importantly a larger core of british players (ideally scousers).

I couldn't have put that better myself! Let's hope they sort it all out very soon and I totally agree about Raffa reading statements at press conferences, he should be more off the cuff!

yeah defiantly agree nothing worse then him reading a written statement would rather he just opened his heart so to speak and actually say what he thinks and wants to say. He appologised to the fan's but seemed more of a token gesture than him actually meaning it.

I think Rafa's time has been up for some time, but somehow the powers that be at the Liverpool Football Club seem more intent on fighting each other than thinking about the football club. Rafa has been really poor in the transfer market. Except for Torres and Mascherano, his signings have been miserable and Acquilani is just another one of those. I think he should get the sack, especially if Liverpool want to win the trophy while Gerrard is still around. Cheers! Ram

yeah but rafa signed a new contract last season and can liverpool really afford to terminate his contract. Thats the unfortunate fact of football and I think its wrong in a normal job if you were not doing the job you'd get sacked and get no more wages. In football the manager still gets his contract bought out and earns millions from being sacked, strange state of affairs.

That is the million dollar question. I think it was mistake by Liverpool to give him that extended contract. The problem with Liverpool seems that the board room fights are taking a bigger toll on the club than should be necessary at such a big club!! Cheers! Ram

I think he's still at his best. the present scenario is just a temporary set-back i believe. Moreover he's never given the right budget for the new players

well to be honest I think the money he has been given he has well bought average players, people such as lucas, kuyt (works hard but is not consistant enough), Ngog, Krygiakos, Riera the list goes on. Average players some of those were on free's but still wasting wages on these average players that are not of the standard to play for Liverpool. He also bought Aquilani and hardly ever plays him why pay that sort of money and not play him and buy him injured when we need a replacement for Alonso not 6 months into the season but for the start of it. Just think he has lost the dressing room and to be honest the two Americans need to go as well worst thing Liverpool ever did was selling out to the Americans. Thanks for the memories of the champions league and finishing 2nd last season etc etc but we ain't going to finish 4th we are going to loose out champion league slot as the way we are playing we don't deserve it anyhow. Also Rafa I haven't supported Liverpool all my life to finish 4th 3rd or 2nd the only place that counts is 1st so think its time to move aside and let new blood into the helm and if Rafa really cared about the club he would move aside and not expect anything in return but same as everyone else he is holding out for his 16 million.

I have been a staunch believer that Rafa has not been great for Liverpool. Except for that one Istanbul moment, Rafa does not have anything to show up for his 6 years at Liverpool's helm. Remember he has built this team on his own by buying hordes of players. The only decent acquisition from him has been Torres. The only other two consistent players for Liverpool, i.e. Steven Gerrard and Carragher were already there when Rafa came over. I think it is definitely time for Rafa to move over for the good of the club, though I think it is already 2 years too late. Cheers! Ram

That's right. Also, I fear for players such as Gerrard who have given their heart and soul to the club, but are frustrated at not mounting a serious challenge for the title. I fancy Gerrard finally moving on to some club to see if he can add to his silverware. I do not see him winning too much silverware with Rafa still at the helm of Liverpool. Cheers! Ram

I think rafa lost some of the support when he said last year that the premiership was not of importance. Every liverpool fan wants to win the premiership, istanbul was a magical night for british football and of course for liverpool football club. Yeah Torres would get into any team anywhere in the world he is one of the top strikers in the premiership. Though not even sure about Aquilani what I have seen of him hope I am proved wrong but well over priced at 20 million. I think Rafa should leave the club, he has taken us as far as he can, he is loosing the dressing room and the support of the fans, and if he truely cares about the club not the pay package he should walk away before liverpool fc become a mid table club. Though not sure who would want to manage liverpool fc if he did as we have a few world class players but the rest are premiership level players but not the quality you would expect to be at a club like liverpool fc.

for me.. Rafa time is over.. to save liverpool they need fresh manager that can bring new idea.. come on, don't let liverpool sink deeper and deeper and at last liverpool is not big four any more because right now EPL is really competitive
