This is my new hobby. I bought a second hand DSLR from an online networking site. Although I still don't know much about this, I'm struggling to learn the basics. any tips you might want to share? Thanks a lot..

Well, in my opinion,, the most important thing in photography besides practice is that you know the essence of the object you're captured. You also need some theory about white balance, diaphragm, speed, ISO, etc. http://skyreh.info/140/how-to-create-an-amazing-photo.html

My best advice would be to practice, practice and practice. Take lot of pictures all the time and everywhere, and eventually you will figure it out. If you haven't read anything about exposure times, shutter speed, ISO and stuff like that, then it might be a good idea to do some reading too. Lots of books and websites out there, it is easier to read it than trying to figure it out by yourself. I got a book with photography tips with my first camera, that was quite helpful. Or something like photography for dummies, they often have examples.
