Grandmother of a friend of mine, has 99 years, and still communicate very well. She support themselves, go to shopping, have 3 children, all dead, 11 grandchildren, 29 grand grandchildren, and i don t know how many kids from grandchildren. She make bath alone, and laugh a lot, make jokes, use perfume, and is strange, she have new teeth and see very well now.I was shocked to see that she have new teeth, in my opinion this is a miracle, but i ask a doctor, and is possible? You can imagine? new teeth, and don t use glasses, she used glasses 50 years, and now she can see without glasses. She make plans, for shes birthday, for next year when she say that will have 100. I never see in my life a person so optimistic. I want to say that she smoke, 10 cigaretts/day. How old is the oldest person you know? ...i forgot, all day she argue with everybody, this woman have such a power, i admire her a lot...99? you can imagine?

"I was shocked to see that she have new teeth, in my opinion this is a miracle, but i ask a doctor, and is possible? " Maybe she has new fake teeth, means partials or dentures... Anyway, members of my close family are 97 and 98 and are doing fine. They are independent and healthy.

The oldest person I have ever met is a woman from a nursing home where I used to work. She was 102, but she seemed much younger. When I started working in the nursing home the other residents pointed at the woman and asked me: "How old do you think she is?" and they laughed when they heard my answer, because I thought that she was much younger than 102. The oldest person from my own family is my grandmother who is 92. She still lives on her own, cooks her own food, cleans her house, does her laundry and everything else.

I know few persons very old, just because i work with old persons, in social field. Who say that old persons are not alive, lie, i know few who have a great spirit, are so nice and worm, and so young to soul. The oldest person i know that is alive, and i talk with this person is a woman who are 103 years old, she walk, talk normal, take bath no help too, and can eat all what she want, and what is very important, don t want to die, she make plans for next Christmas .

The oldest person I personally knew was my grandmother (my Mom's Mother). She lived to 105 and finally passed on just before hitting 106. Unfortunately, she was bedridden for the last couple of years before she passed. My one second cousin lived to be 101. She kept her mind and was active right up until her time came. We all used to laugh because she still did a part round of golf well into her mid 90's. Those are the oldest from my family. On the one side of my family, most of the women lived into their 90's, and were still vital active women. From watching all my elders over the years, I think there is a lot to be said for keeping busy in mind and body. None of these women were sedentary couch potatoes as their age advanced, and I believe that had a lot to do with them getting to such an advanced age.

Good for her! Way to go Granny. Some people are just forces of nature. I have a friend who's mother in law is in her 90's. I never asked exactly how old she is. I guess I thought it would be rude.
