What would you sacrifice for music?

Earlier today I was watching concert footage of myfavorite band with my mom. I have always loved music- playing guitar and singing- and I said, "I want to form a band like that." After a while, my mom said, "What an awful life they (the band) must lead; they have to play the same songs every night. They're never at home." I never really thought of it that way. My love for music is just incredible- if I were in a band I don't think I'd mind playing the same songs every night and going days and days on the road without showers or anything- the energy from the people that come to the concerts would be enough to keep me going. I've been to a TON of concerts in my young life, and just the passion and energy that comes from the crowd and the performers is really awesome to me. What do you think of the life of a musician? Would you mind constantly being on tour and playing the same songs every night?

I think it would drive me nuts but that's because I'm not a person who enjoys entertaining others and I'm very crowd shy, I could never perform for anyone. From what I've read, it's not the songs that are rewarding to musicians but the crowd reaction. Playing the music is automatic but they really feed off the adulation and energy of the crowd. Kind of like vampires, but vampires that give something in return!

That's a great way thing to relate it to- vampires. There was a song I heard before that had lyrics about vampires and feeding off the enrgy of other people. Maybe the person who wrote that song dealt with what we're talking about.

I'm afraid that would not be my kettle of fish. I need variation in my life. What you describe would bore me pretty quickly. I think that's what being passionate about something is...it consumes you. There is room for no-one or nothing else in your life but the music. Of course that includes the people and occasions that go with it but it's a pretty small world when all is said and done.

I do no think I would sacrifice anything for music. I would not like the life. What type of music are you talking about? I do not think it would be a good life. You would get tired and the stress would be great. This is my opinion, and if it is rock music I know I would not want that life. It is just something I do not care for. Have a great day.

Being a musician is my dream,'cause I feel great when I play the musical instrument.Though,I'm not good at it.It doesn't matter if you play the same song day by day, night by night, and I think it just likes the teacher teachs one same thing to the students many many times. It's just ok.

I suppose if I was in the band then I would love to play my songs every night and the same songs as long as the fans were going mad for it every night. I think if it ever got to the point where the fans were not going mad then I would have to stop making music. I would get homesick a lot though as I currently live away from home a lot I get homesick now and can't wait to get home during the holidays.
