Do you like to buy and store in the pantry and refrigerator much food for a "black and rainy " days?Just because you heard that food will be more expensive, or for one to be a tough winter, buy more "you got there"? You like to have more food, for longer, or you're one who says, what will be will be"!!!Of course the economic factor is important, since it is cheaper to buy more!! You are more quiet if you know you have food in your refrigerator or pantry for a month, even more? You're like ant who takes care of tomorrow for you and your family?

Yes, i do store certain foods that can last long in my refrigerator or at the pantry. I decided to buy more of those products because every week ,they are not in fix price, as every week we will need to buy on different price tags, based on market value. As for daily food, which there are not much price differences, i will only buy in a daily or weekly based quantity. As for daily food like meat or vegetables, it's better to buy on daily basics, as it's more fresh and healthy for us to consume.

Of course as milk, bread, vegetables or fruit to buy daily, to be fresh. Always try to buy milk powder, dried vegelale, or flour, so I can replace staples. Now, here is -25 degrees, and you can imagine, that for a while i don t dare to go out to go to shopping, so...i ll go just to refrigerator ..there i have all what i need

Yes, in your situation, it's a must to store as much food as possible at home, so you don't need to face the cold weather outside of your home. If i was staying in your area, i think i will do the same way, too. Wise planning, my friend....

hi ice, tropical countries like ours dont need much to store food because we dont get much emergencies like storms and hurricanes. we buy enough just for a few days supply of meat and vegetables. maybe an extra of instant noodles, eggs and canned fish, corned beef and sausages, and canned or powdered milk. sometimes when it rains for two or three days, nothing much changes. we go to our gardens and pick up vegetables. i have never tried overloading my ref with food stuff. happy mylotting. ann

Our fridge is only big enough to store a small amount of food, so we shop often. However, we do keep some cans of things, and boxes of pasta and stuff that does not need to be refridgerated in the pantry off of the kitchen. It's great at the end of the month when we have a few days between the time the money runs out, and when we'll get our next paycheck. LOL

So not a psychological problem as someone said is just one solution to help ourselves. Often, and in many occasions just that can help us

Every year-just before the hurricane season begins, I like to buy extra things tht we may need if a hurricane comes. Actually I start to pick things up before the season begins. I buy disposable paper plates and cups and 5 gallon bottles of drinking water. Then I fill up about another 20 container of one gallon each and we would use this water to flush the toilets etc. I do have a generator but the cost of gas is so expensive that I could only use it for a few hours in the evenings to keep things cold in the freezer. I buy lots of tinned things and store rice and basic food items like that plus new batteries for the flash lights and extra candles - all sorts of things - just in case!! Excellent post

No, I don't store food. I choose to be positive and think there will always be enough. Watch the TV show hoarders and see how this habit can grow into a psychosis.

I just have food for the week in my fridge. There is more food in my pantry, because we buy in larger sizes and then use things slowly. We live fairly close to a grocery store, so it's better to just get our food fresh from there.

I generally plan my meals out for each day of the week and get all the ingredients that I need for each meal. I usually don't go outside my grocery list and stick to the main things I need for my meals. It helps because I am currently dieting so I really have to stick to the necessities for my diet meals.

Hey icesmile! Yes I do like to keep alot of extra food in my house just in case something happens where I can't get out! I don't have a car so I like to be able to go shopping once a month to do a major shopping and then only pick up a few things during the month if I absoutely have to! I wait for the store to have the best sales and see what I need before I decide when I am going! That also is the best way to save money!

For me, keeping a full fridge, pantry, and freezer is a priority (about 2-3 months worth). Borderline OCD about this. I feel like there are so many unexpected exenses and job losses that I need to make sure that my family will be able to eat no matter what. It has nothing to with the black rainy days or winter or food becoming more expensive. It just provides me peace of mind knowing that I will have food for my family.
