Remeber the times where you could go home draw a bubble bath and grab a good book to read. Well that's not really the case anymore know it more like listen to a book on your iPod or read it off the kindle my question is with all this technology coming out that cuts out the pages we once read what's going to happen within the next 10 years to books?

I can't imagine a life with out a hardcover book or paperback book. That would be horrible. I love reading books. I don't like the kindle or listening to books on tapes. I want to be able to open a book and read it myself from cover to cover. I believe there are alot of people like me who feel the same way. If there were to start to go away people would be up in arms about it. There is nothing better then opening a book to read to take you to another place and time.

I totally agree the whole experience of reading a great story is the pages that seem to immerse you into the story and make you picture the story with great detail.

I feel the same way. I tried listening to an audio book once, and although the author's voice (for it was she who read it too) was so soothing, I just couldn't keep up. It wasn't the same as holding the book right in front of you and flipping the pages. I don't read via a kindle (i don't have one) but I've read ebooks on the pc too, still not the same. So I think Books will still be around and people will keep buying. the challenge for publishers is how to make them affordable.

As long as there is still a great demand for the traditional book(and there still is) it will always be around.

i cannot imagine myself without a book in my hand. I love coming home after a hard day at work an climbing in a bubble bath and reading a good book. I also like reading a good book before I go to bed at night. I love having a paperback, and looking around my room I love seeing books surrounding me and I plan on passing on my love for reading to my children.

Will there ever be a day when books go extinct? Maybe. I'm not going to be ignorant and say it could never happen, because the world has seen its fair share of kingdoms crumble. But I'm going to fight it with every breath in my body. I love books. Not eBooks, not audiobooks, but BOOKS! Actual page-filled books. I really can't stand eBooks and I'll only listen to audiobooks if I have to be using my hands or my eyes for something else. I love big hardcover books. A weighty book makes me happy. I don't know what will happen to books. The future is uncertain. Maybe they will be tossed aside in favor of 3D movies, but if I can help it I'm not going to let it happen.

I bet that eventually books will be all electronic. I will miss having them in my hands as I still prefer them that way but I can't help but think of all the trees that will be saved by moving everything to handheld devices.

Probably a little of everything that has been said maybe part of the end of the age of printed matter. But even if bound paper books do eventually go away (which I hope not, for selling used books is how I earn my living) The human being seems to want something they can hold in their hands, we are tactile creatures, and probably even newer technoloogy will have to incorporate this aspect to become widely used.

i dont think books are gonna leave the earth ever. no matter how many types ipods or ebook readers come but there is something different with books. books can be read anywhere, anytime, even when there is no power when there is no power in your ipod, it can be carried everywhere, you can tear parts of books and take it to your exam hall secretly, but you cant do with electronic devices. i think books are here to stay for a much much longer time until man finds some sort of technology that is totally ..umm..like books !
