Hi.. I have my Acer laptop for almost 2 years. Before, my laptop battery could stand for 2 hours. Then an accident happened, my wife tripped on the wire that made my adapter ruined. After the accident, my battery power decreased slowly to 1 hour, 45 minutes, 30 minutes, and today the "best record" is 5 minutes :p How about you guys? How long is a battery life span? Can you make the life span longer? Thanks

Juszie, Batteries standby and elapsed time will reduce with time and also affected by how you use your laptop. You may always buy a new one to replace the current one, keep it plugged on the mains or get a new laptop if you are highly mobile where you compute a lot on the move. Also, I feel that you should change the adapter too, you should never use a damaged adapter as it could be bad for your laptop and dangerous for you. Take care and have a nice day.

Hi Sky.. Thanks for the advise, Already got my adapter fixed :). I have my lesson not to use damaged adapter, my battery was affected by it and can not be fixed anymore. I don't use laptop on the move, so I think I'll stay with this "superb" battery and just keep on main plug. Thanks again and have a nice day.

25 years old? Then you bought it on 1985? What kind of processor it has? How many RAM and Harddisk capacity it has? And what OS is it running? Sorry for many questions since I am not comfortable anymore with my 10 years old laptop :p

Mine can last 3 hours in the most energy saving setting. Since the batteries are Ion batteries you mustn't fully use them and then recharge, that's actually bad for them, or so I heard.

You did pretty good getting 2 years out of your battery. A new one will last 3 to 3.5 hours per charge and slowly lose charge time over the course of use. There are only a certain number of charge/discharge cycles in any battery. My last one only lasted a little over a year. One good way to extend your battery life is to remove it whenever you can run on the power cable. If you are in a place where you can plug in, take the battery out or insert the used up one just to give you a few minutes to shut down if you have an unexpected power outage. This will keep your good battery from going through needless discharge and charge cycles. Only use this battery when you need it or are somewhere without power. Also, if you're not going to use the battery for a while, it's best to remove it when it has about a 40% charge and not charged all the way up. It's a little easier on the battery and will help to extend it's life. If you're down to 5 minutes though, it's time for a new one!
