There's nothing wrong with setting goals. As a matter of fact, it's probably a good way to achieve more, because if you set a goal, you will strive harder to achieve it than you would without it. That works for some people. It increases their productivity by using a sort of "forced discipline" on themselves.

 A very interesting subject indeed. Animal breeders apply the same principals when they breed for certain traits and qualities in their animals. Breeders of dogs and race horses are the best examples. It gets a little creepy though when you start applying "selective breeding" techniques and principals, including limiting reproduction, to the human race though.

 I could see them denying someone entry on the bus if it was actually something long enough to be really unwieldy but if it was just 6 ft long, I don't see that as a problem.
